My awareness campaign

1 Recommendation

Inspired by nanag I will get this in front of as many eyes as I can:

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Regardless of how you feel about smoking, lung cancer victims need your help. More people die of lung cancer then breast, prostrate, and colon cancers combined. Research can save lives, but lung cancer money is spent on smoking cassation. Most people newly diagnosed with lung cancer are never smokers or smokers that quit decades ago. If all smokers quit today, hundreds of thousands of people would still suffer and die of lung cancer. Please tell American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org/asp/contactUs/cus_global.asp and Center for Disease Control and Prevention cdcinfo@cdc.gov., no one deserves the most deadly of cancers, even if they smoked.

I sent my emails-don't know if it will do any good but it sure can't hurt. Wouldn't it be great if we could flood them with letters this month. I want to someday hear that someone is diagnosed with lung cancer and the dr says"Well, you are lucky. If you have to have cancer, this is the kind to have. It is curable". Just my dream for now.
Pat

Pat, I like the way you dream

Keep fighting and get the word out folks!

Bill

I am going to post this on my Facebook! Thank you for sharing....

Amen Jim.

I sent a proclaimation request to the Gov of IN (where I live) I have heard NO response!! I also sent an email to the same...still no response!! BUT I will not get discouraged! I am in the process of writing to my three local newspapers and hopefully I will get something done! As some of you know my Momma passed away in June of lc. Just 6 months after dx. I am so frustrated...BUT I am not giving up! I have spent the last few months mourning her loss now it is time to get myself in gear and get those of you still out there fighting some awareness! This is for you all and my sweet, dear, loving Momma!!

OMG Pat, Those were the exact words my first Onc pulmonary Dr. used when I was first diagnosed. Funny I do not feel so lucky now.

Jim, a friend of mine posted a statement on my facebook which I and several others have copied and shared on their facebook. Thanks to computers the word is getting spread.

Hopefully someone with the authority and balls can do something about it.

Linda

Nice going, Jim! I'll do the same on facebook.
Bob

Hi all,

First, I would like to say to Pat and Linda that I was told that exact same thing by many people not my doctors. I'm still in the early stages of believing!! Sort of. Jim, I love your contribution to awareness. I haven't gotten back to many people with my collecting of BAC people. I'm apologize for the delay. It is happening and I will be speaking at our survivors day celebration on Nov. 20th to talk about what the latest information is about. Please email me directly so I can share! linda.salvati@warnerbros.com
