Music that uplifts you....

1 Recommendation

Hello everyone... I just finished watching the video of Lee Ann Womack's "I hope you dance". I love this song!!!

I started thinking about all the other music that uplifts and comforts others. I've been thinking about buying an Ipod to have with me when I go in for my surgery next week.

Are there certain artists or songs that uplift you?.... bring you peace and comfort.

Looking forward to your suggestions.....
Blessing to all.

Cancer Surgery Pain Casting

Hi Sue - have you ever heard of 'guided imagry' for cancer? It's by Belleruth - there are 3 mps. It's the power of imagination to help you heal. The 1st mp3 is the introductin and other 2 are breathing/imagination images. Her voice is extremely soothing and puts you mentally into a very nice place. My sister enjoys listening to her. If you want to email me I can get the site for you to download it.

a good friend of mine is in the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir - they have won 5 Grammy's and have several CD's out - they are truly insperational!!!! Good luck with your surgery - if they do VATS it's a walk in the park!!!!

Hi Sue

I LOVE 'I Hope You Dance' too. One of my top 10 all time favorites.

Another one that I find just as uplifting is a song by the group Rascal Flatts called 'My Wish'. Give it a listen on Rhapsody and tell me what you think. It gives me happy chills!

I hope you dance,
Lori :)

Yeah,,

I know,, I am too old to be listening to Kid Rock, but this is a cool tune. "Lonely Road of Faith"

I have just become a Goo Goo Dolls fan... what a great message. Thank you for sharing this with me.

I LOVE Take 6 - beautiful a capella music - Christian but not preachy at all - just loving and hopeful and uplifing!

I listened to music all throughout my surgery, and manyTake 6 songs were on the tape that looped and looped and looped.

And "Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster" (the book) really helped too. Love Belleruth Naperstak as well!~

All the best,
Lori

OMG there is this one song that I listen to that makes me cry when I am thinking of my mom. It called Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. It talks about just forgetting all your problems and just take in the moment. One of the lines says, If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world? I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Somedays that is all I want to do, is to forget that this is really happening. I just want to go back to the days when my mom was healthy.

For songs that make one want to fight hard there is nothing like the Rocky anthem!!!!

Here's the Lyrics to that Kid Rock song.

Up and down that lonely road of faith
I have been there
Unprepared for the storms and the tides that rise
Ive realized one thing, how much I love you
And it hurts to see, see you cryin
I believe we can make it through the winds of change

God is great indeed
If you believe, in the everlife
Yeah we gotta
Make some sense of the piece thats not defined
And if you just hold on, I wont let ya fall
We can make it through the storms and the winds of change

Though I walk through the valley of darkness
I am not afraid
Cause I know Im not alone

And if the wind blows east, would you follow me
And if the wind blows north, would ya stay your course
And if the wind blows west, would ya second guess
And if it blows to the south, would you count me out
And if the sun dont shine, would you still be mine
And if the sky turns grey, would you walk away
Would you say I do, if I say Ill be
And walk this road through life with me
You know I love youuuuuu

On this lonely road of faith
On this lonely road of faith

Hi Suz,
What a great question to ask. I believe that music can be the bridge between oneself and the hope that rests on the other side. I am a huge music fan. There's one artist that I stumbled upon by accident. Her name is Patty Griffin. If you hop onto ITunes, you can sample her music. I also like David Gray. They're two of my favorites. And by the way, Dave, that' s a great song that you put out there. Thanks for doing that!
Suz, GOOD LUCK with your surgery. It brings you one step closer to recovery...

Mountains by Lonestar.

Lucinda Jones working at the IHOP:
Ten years worth of bacon, eggs, and tears.
She's waited on every creed and color
While waiting on this day to get here.
Graveyard shifts, two bit tips,
Making every quarter count.
It's worth it all to see her son in that cap and gown.

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip and fall
When you can't lean on no one else,
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walk-in's easy when the road is flat
Them danged 'ole hills will get you every time.
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains so we could learn how to climb

Private Bobby Dunn came back from the war,
Lost his leg but they couldn't take his will.
Hell bent to run in that local marathon.
He trained through the endless pain and pills
It hurt so bad that sometimes he just had to cry.
He didn't stop until he crossed that finish line.

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip and fall
When you can't lean on no one else,
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walk-in's easy when the road is flat
Them danged 'ole hills will get you every time.
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains so we could learn how to climb

This world ain't fair
It can knock you on your butt
You can just lie there or you can get back up
You gotta get back up

There are times in life when you gotta crawl,
Lose your grip, trip and fall
When you can't lean on no one else,
That's when you find yourself
I've been around and I've noticed that
Walk-in's easy when the road is flat
Them danged 'ole hills will get you every time.
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains so we could learn how to climb
Yeah, oh

I think the songs that uplift me (there are 3) you can let go now daddy by christal shawanda angels among us by alabama and go rest high on the mountain by vince gill. They are sad songs but they uplift me and remind me of my dad,
