Mom finished treatments

0 Recommendations

On Thursday my Mom finished her treatments ... 32 radiation treatments, 4 Cisplatin and 9 Etoposide.

Now we wait ...

We've been told 2 - 3 months before they will take a scan. I am visualizing the doctor's telling us "the scan is clear" ... "NED" ...

My Mom is tired and starting to get a lot of the side effects - pain in her esphogaus, etc.

Anything we should be doing during this waiting time?

Breath. Live as normally as possible. Your Mom should rest as much as she needs to. Be sure she is eating and drinking. Tell us what side effects she is experiencing. Everyone is different, but at least one person has likely experienced some of the same side effects and can offer advice on how to deal with them.

Good luck to your Mom.

because chemo is "cummulative" mom will still be feeling the full effects of the chemo - be patient - drink plenty of fluids and try to get her to eat high pritien foods - fish and organic chicken - try to stay away from red meat. She will start to feel better but it took a full year before I felt "normal" after chemo - .....hand in there - I am praying as well for NED - we like him!
