MD Anderson

0 Recommendations

We are looking for an oncologist at MD Anderson. Does anyone have any recommendations? It's impossible to get through to someone on the phone without having been there, but we are going to have to travel there and it would be nice if someone on the phone before we go.
Let the Spirit move you!
Best,
Seraphina

Go to their internet site. Take care, JC

JC,
we've already done that. We are looking for someone with a personal connection to cut through the bureaucracy.
Thanks,
Seraphina

Hi Seraphina - Have you tried Dana Farber yet? I know MDA is the "best", but DF is way up there too (I believe in the top 5 if not higher). Either way, best of luck and keep us posted.

I can personally recommend Dr. Gregory Seymour, who is my Dad's oncologist. He has his own practice, did his fellowship at MDA and is the moonlighting director for the MICU there as well. He is a brilliant doctor and has access to the most state of the art treatments available today for his patients. Here is a website with some info on him:

Thank you so much for your response. Does Dr. Seymour specialize in lung cancer?
How is your father doing?
How is the weather in Texas this time of year?
Have a great day!
Best,
Seraphina

If you call 713 745 5394 they will be able to provide you with a fax number so that you can fax the medical records. You can speak to a nurse who will provide information regarding treatments available for your condition. I have never been to MDA but have spoke to some wonderful people there who have been able to provide phone information to confirm treatment. They have even told me that travel there would not be necesary since they agree with the treatment my husband is receiving.
Give them a call.
Good luck,
Maria

I can recommend Dr. Karen Reckamp at City of Hope in California. She is a researcher and clinician specializing in lung cancer.

There are a number of wonderful thoracic oncologists at MD Anderson:
Ed Kim
Anne Tsao
Roy Herbst
Bonnie Glisson
Kathy Pisters
Vali Papadimitrakopoulo (she just goes by Vali :)

Any of them would be great for you to see!

You can read more about them here:

Hello, I am new here and probably will not be very vocal. I believe M D Anderson saved my life. I have nsc lung cancer. I see Dr Kurie in the thoracic dept. He is just great. He is very quite and steady and supportative. He also has great P As and assistants. Call the thoracic number and go from there. I hope this helps you.

Serphina,
I go to MD Anderson. I am seeing Dr. Fossella. He is head of the thorasic center and a professor. I just had 2 rounds of chemo and then I go back to see him on the 27th of this month. They have a place now in Sugarland to have chemo and radition done. I don't know what you need done. Do you know what type of cancer you have? If you need any more info. , please let me know. Take care. Karen
