"LC—Coming Soon to a Non-smoker Near You" op ed on SU2C site

0 Recommendations

There's a compelling piece on the SU2C site by the daughter of a lung cancer patient who quit smoking 40 yrs ago. The daughter also happens to be a writer for Desperate Housewives. See http://su2c.standup2cancer.org/node/2769?page=1

She gave the Lung Cancer Alliance as the place to go to eradicate the stigma of LC.

I tried to post a comment but couldn't, even though I was signed in. Maybe someone else can get through -- since LC is the biggest cancer killer it would be good to see more support of this woman's plea for compassion and funding.
Thanks,
Lori

My husband is stage 4 , never smoked, healthy man.
No one deserves lung cancer.
Thank you for posting this article.

Jan, I am so very sorry to hear this and my heart goes out to you.

You're absolutely right. No one deserves lung cancer - and that includes all the wives, husbands, children, siblings, and other loved ones and friends of patients who endure its pain and too often its shame.

I'm encouraged that more people seem to speaking out against stigma; only by speaking out can we hope to gain compassion and better ways to prevent, treat, and ultimately cure this disease.

I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, and I do have hope. I've heard so many amazing success stories of people with advanced LC on this site and through other venues.
Hugs,
Lori

Lori - Thanks for sharing this article - its a start!

Lori,

This article is fantastic!! Thank you for sharing! I hope Jamie continues to fight for this cause she so clearly has a passion for!!

I, too, tried to comment, but the comments section doesn't seem to be working. I also clicked on the contact us link to let them know, and that also is disabled.

If anyone manages to get through, pls can you let us know so we can also write in about the article?

Thanks!

Thanks for the great link. Helps me feel not alone. My sister is 41 and never smoked and has been diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer.
Doctors told her "cancer always gets the upper hand". What a shame when there is so much attention and hope given to other cancer patients.
All cancers deserve equal funding, attention and empathy. Nobody deserves cancer.
