Just wanted to know how many of us went to the Moffitt Center in Tampa Florida for treatment?

That is where I will be going next, also just checking to see if any of my fellow Floridians have experienced similar troubles in getting a dx? I was talking to a friend and she had an unrelated issue that for some reason had her going to 7 diffrent doctors ( one doc refering to the next) before she could get an answer and cure...

Orlando guy, my mom lived in Bushnell FL back in 01 she was 58. She had quit smoking @ 7 years before. She started having severe back pain her regular Dr. thought it might be Osteoperois (sp??). He gave her Celebrex to try I remember it was her birthday I called to wish her a happy birthday (Sep 28) and she was down on her back. He did a bone density test. Bones were fine.

Finally after several months of her still not feeling well and starting to vomit, and losing weight he ordered a CAT-SCAN and then we learned it was Stage IV lung cancer. (Dec 22). It had been three months before her illness was officially dx. After we learned the dx we did take her to Moffit who only confirmed the Dr.'s Dec dx and basically offered CHEMO. To be honest my sister was with my mom when they went to Moffit and the Dr. asked do you want to know how long you have. My sister was LIVID. After my mom and aunt left the room she went in and told him so.

We ended up going to Cancer Center of America in Zion IL they were wonderful and always hopeful. I can only wonder if they had dx it correctly to begin with if we might have had a better chance at fighting it?

One of my dear friends his dad was dx with the same type of cancer NSCLC IV at the same time as my mom with the same exact problem...both had severe back pain....
