John Atkinson on the Today Show tomorrow morning!

Hey everyone,

You might remember our friend John Atkinson, the Stage 4 survivor who won the Golf Digest Challenge and played in a foursome at Torrey Pines with Matt Lauer, Tony Romo and Justin Timberlake right before the US Open back in the summertime. Anyway, he's going to be on the Today Show tomorrow morning sometime between 8am and 8:30am talking to Matt Lauer about lung cancer for Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Well, I am not on the Today show but I will be on the local evening news tonight. WVII (ABC) out of Bangor, Maine came to my middle school and interviewed myself, several students, and a couple of staff members about how I have changed (or not) by having stage IV lung cancer. I was a tad nervous but I hope I sound half-way intelligent:-)
I made a point to thank them for discussing lung cancer during Lung Cancer Awareness month.

Also, as part of the segment, LCA has provided the producers pictures of those touched by the disease. Many of our Hometown Faces of Lung Cancer will be featured in a graphic presentation. We are not sure whose pictures they will ultimately use so keep your eyes peeled! Thank you for all of the awareness raised. Jamie, I heard you did a great job this past weekend!

We had a great weekend. Now I am in bed with Strep Throat..Yuck!!

Next on the agenda!!
1. Making lung cancer survivor kits that we will be distributing to local cancer clinics.
2. Interview with local Fox to get the word out about our advocacy group
3. Getting with a broadcasting studio at a local high school to make a commercial. ( Developed by one of our advocates)
4. Preparing for the Playing for a Cure Music Event on March 7th.

and who knows what's next...just anxious to find out
