Intravaneous Vitamin C Treatments

0 Recommendations

I have researched the Vit C treatments online until I was blue in the face. Seems like it is definately worth trying! I have ready tons of good stuff about it and it's affects on Cancer. I was wondering if any of you out there have tried this and how it worked/or didn't work for you. My dad lives in Norfolk, NE. The closest place that I found that does the treatments are 5 hours away. He is starting Chemo next week. Thanks!

U.S. researchers said a federal approval of a clinical trial on intravenous vitamin C as a cancer treatment lends credence to alternative cancer care. Cancer Treatment Centers of America won Food and Drug Administration approval to begin a trial last year, a move the Illinois-based hospital group said added credibility to its research into alternative methods for cancer medical care.

In subsequent studies, vitamin C failed to show a benefit, but those studies involved vitamin C given orally. A recent study involved injections of vitamin C to enable greater concentrations of it to get into the system.

In July of 2007 I had an lobectomy. I was staged at 1a and my oncologist recommended that I do chemo because my tumor was poorly differentiated and minimal margin, but I elected not to do so. I was seeing an alternative doctor who treated me intravenously every week with Vitamin C. After a few months of weekly treatments, then I got them every two weeks, then every three weeks and now I am down to once a month.

I get CT's and PET's every three months and so far so good. I also was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July of 2004 and had it surgically removed.

Hoping the very best for your father.

My sister also has Stage IV lung cancer with mets to bones. She has been receiving Vit C i.v. weekly for about 3 months....the dose gradually increases...I think she's up to about 80g. It takes a while ..( I think an hour or so), but she just sits and reads, talks whatever. She hasn't done any chemo and her lung tumor has not grown in size in 3+ months. I beleive in this and would definitely get your dad to try. Make sure chemo doesn't interfere.

I wish you the best.

Thanks for all your responses. Poncho, I'm so glad things are looking bright for you! VH, my heart goes out to you, your sister and her family. I am a mother of two young boys also (4 & 7). Very hard to imagine what the family is going through. I am very glad to hear about the vitamin c treatments working for your sister. It has been such a rollercoaster researching this stuff. Is it good? Is it worthless? I just want to 'save' him ya know? I have read so much positive stuff online but can't seem to get much positive feedback elsewhere (oncologist, and alternative medicine clinic in NE) so thank you.

I do know.........every waking moment now is a mission to "save them". I think there's a lot of good and a lot of worthless out there too. Research is a must...and find a good doctor! We've found most oncologists aren't aware of alternatives treatments...if you think about it...why would they...they are not trained that way....and they don't sell vitamins!
I wish you the best.

What state do you live in? I am taking chemo and I would love to try the vitamin c instead. The chemo does not agree with me at all. I take my 2nd treatment tomorrow and really dreading it. I think that is wonderful that you were able to take the vitamin C iv instead of this toxic stuff. Please let me know if you know of anyplace in florida that offers this treatment. I will gladly give up this treatment. Had a wedge resection and margins were clean, was well differentiated and stage T1, nx and mx. My hair is almost gone after one treatment. Sorry to complain but i was never so sick in my life as the last time. Does your insurance pay for the vitamin c iv? Just wondering. Hope you continue to be free of the disease and have a wonderful recovery that will teach the doctors there are other ways to get rid of this horrible cancer.

Just a suggestion, i do both alternative and conventional medicine and i take vitamin c supplement in powder form, gradually increasing it, by putting it in smoothies, juices etc. Its cheaper and along with other supplements i reckon this is definitely a must when fighting cancer.
VH please let me know how your sister does, its great to hear she is doing good.

Hello! I am so sorry you are feeling so bad. My dad didn't actually have the treatment. Yet. There was a news program on it which is where we originally had heard of it. My dad lives in NE but here is a site you can go to to see if and where they offer the treatments. You can try finding a physician by logging
onto ACAM at www.acam.org. I found this out by a Dr. Magaziner that does the treatments out of NJ and has had great success. The following is his contact information and some ?'s I sent him via email and his responses.

(ME)... My father's doctor stated that if he does the Vitamin C treatments it will interfere w/ his Chemotherapy.

(DOCTOR)...This is a myth perpetuated by the conventional medical profession. There is no well documented studies indicating this and, in fact, there are many studies indicating the exact opposite. Intravenous vitamin C is a pro-oxidant and NOT an anti-oxidant as some of the oncologists are not aware of or informed of.

(ME)...I have read that it can actually help w/ the side effects from chemo.

(DR.)...True.

(ME)... Do you recommend treatments before, during, or after Chemo?

(DR.)...Usually before if the timing will work.

Make sure you specifically ask the doctor if he/she has experience in utilizing Vitamin C in cancer patients. If you have any ?'s let me know. My dad is actually doing chemo right now and tollerating pretty well for the most part. Does your oncologist know that you are struggling w/ the meds they have you on currently? There are many other drugs they can try that may not have such harsh side effects. As far as insurance goes I talked to one place that said insurance does and another that said insurance doesn't so w/ that I will tell you that treatments are a little over $100 here in the midwest so that's not bad considering the cost of some of the chemo drugs!!

Best of luck w/ your appointment tomorrow. Hopefully your oncologist can change the meds. You hang in there! There is alot of love and suport on this site. Keep asking any questions you may have.

God Bless and warm hugs to you!
