Interesting way to get words of encouragement

Greetings!

I didn't have a good category to put this in, so I figured, since it's positive and uplifting, "good news" seemed as good a place as any!

LCA is partnering with a company called Compassionate Communications and Hallmark in a healing card program, and we are looking for people who want to sign up as card receivers. This is a program that would be great for you if you would benefit from a little boost from time to time! It is free of charge, and there are several privacy protections in place (which you can email me and ask about if this is something that you want to know more about).

Basically the way the program works is this: If you’d like to receive inspiring cards from people who want to reach out to you, you are invited to participate, at no cost, in the following way:
• Contact Compassionate Communications or the member organization you are affiliated with i.e. Lung Cancer Alliance
• Complete what is called an Opt-in form which can be obtained at our web site at www.compassionatecommunications.com or by calling (888) 337-6416.
• Return your form to Compassionate Communications via fax at (760) 457-2543 or you can email the signed form to info@compassionatecommunications.com. Your account will then be created by Compassionate Communications.
• You will be sent an auto-generated password, which will allow you access to the web site so you can upload your picture and write your profile.
• Write a short biography about yourself, which can be up to 5,000 characters. If you like you can get family and friends to help you. We also have a list of suggested items to include, in case that might help.
• The Compassionate Communications database will then connect you with someone who is wishing to write to you. With your permission, we’ll share your bio with them, so they can know a little bit about you when they write.
• You’ll receive uplifting cards from them. If you’d like to reply, you certainly can, but it is not required. If you choose to, there are pre-paid postcards available to respond.

There's a lot more info I can pass on if this is of interest to anyone. We just wanted to open the opportunity up to survivors on the community to sign up as card receivers. The site isn't up and running yet, but they hope to be this month. But before they launch, they want to get more people to add their profiles as card receivers. It's a unique way to get support while you are going through this fight.

Email me and let me know if you want more information at apearson@lungcanceralliance.org.

Hi - I meant to post one other detail above.

In order to protect people's privacy, if you wish to not disclose your mailing address, you have an option when you fill out the "Recipient Sign-Up Form". They will ask for an address where you want your cards to go. Have it sent to:
(Patients Name)
North Coast Church
1132 N. Melrose Dr.,
Vista, CA 92083.
This is the address of a church that volunteered to work with Compassionate Communications. Your cards will be sent to them and then they will forward them to you so that they are the only ones who ever see your address. They have an agreement to never allow access to your addresses.

Again, let me know if you have any questions!
