I'm no longer an air head

3 Recommendations

Just a little update. I went to see my neurosurgeon last Monday. He had a CT done and all the air that had accumulated in my cranial cavity had been reabsorbed. Then he checked the brain shunt and it was working as it should, not allowing to much or to little spinal fluid on the brain. Then I saw the neurologist who is trying to wean me off a lot off the meds. they had put me on, slowly but surly I'm getting that done too.
All and all I'm very pleased with the results this time.

God bless you all,
Toddy

Cancer Decadron

God bless YOU Toddy... I am so pleased to hear that you are regaining your strength and getting ready to ditch the pills!! :)
Love,
Ellen

Dear Ellen,

Thank you, I think of you often you were a great comfort when all this brain stuff began. I forgot to mention that they drew two cc's of spinal fluid from the shunt and are sending it to a cytologist to examine for cell types. The neurosurgeon said he didn't expect cancer cells to be found. So from his lips to God's ear!
Love,
Toddy

Thank you Toddy for your kind words.

Yes, you and I are a part of the "craniotomy club"... Not exactly the club I had in mind during retirement, but we do with it what we can, right??

Like you, I doubt they will find any hitchhikers in the fluid, but it's a good idea to test since the fluid is readily available, I suppose.

How's you energy level? I felt real good at first, then the Decadron took it's toll. All of a sudden, almost overnight, I went from 90-to-nothing. The ONLY thing that helped me regain it was C0Q10 and forcing myself to walk inside the house, around and around, a few times a day. I got all of the side-effects... "moon-face", hump back, expanding waistline... it took months for all of that to subside. Once again, the side-effects of the medication was worse than anything.

If you ever want to talk to another whose "been there" (to some degree anyway), feel free to pm me.

God bless you dear. Keep looking up!!
Ellen

hey Toddy,
great news!!! your message made me giggle - I hope you continue to both improve and get more good news

It is so great to see you post and that you are getting better.

It's so good to hear this and to have you back. I am waiting for a biopsy of adrenal tumors that have been there for years but now have grown. All tests are normal for adrenal function. I am a wreck but I know if you got through all you did I will too.

Keep up the good work and try to have a bunch of fun!
