I got the news from the specialist that he sees NO spot on my liver at all! NOTHING! He looked at the scan, read the report, looked at the scan again and thinks they meant a "less than" 1 cm lesion, NOT a 1 cm lesion. He told me go home, relax, enjoy the holidays and they would check again in 3 - 4 months "just to be sure". Sounded fantastic to me!!

So, thank you once again for your prayers and positive thoughts and all your kind words. God is truly amazing.

Hugs,
Cindy

Hi,
I truly am glad that you got a good report; it sounds like they were not sure at first and that was why they had a specialist look at it. So, as good as the news is, it isn't a miracle. You were lucky that it turned out to be nothing. It doesn't prove that there is a god or that a god answered a prayer or anything except that, fortunately, you don't have a liver tumor.
My Dad just found out he has a liver tumor from small cell lung cancer. I'm glad that scientists have found ways to improve his prognosis. We are all hoping for the best, because we love him. But there is no way that we will waste any time or energy going to witch doctors, voodoo practitioners, psychics, fortune tellers or church. If he does well, it will be thanks to science and possibly to his stubborn and ornery nature.
I want to hear real information and good ideas that will actually help. It is really sad to see so many adults still believing in superstitions. You know there is no proof whatsoever for the claims of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Scientology, Hinduism, etc. I think we would be a lot better off if all the educated adults in the world would admit it.

There is also no proof that there isn't a God. There have been many studies done about healing and the power of prayer, so in that case it would actually fall under "science" if that would make you feel better.

You are certainly entitled to your beliefs and I am entitled to mine. I don't tell people to believe the way I do, or even that I'm right, but they are MY beliefs and I am entitled to them. It would be different if I came here to tell people to forget about the "science" and just pray their cancer away, but I'm not. If I believe in God, is it hurting you in any way?

I wish you the best for your father. I would never think of telling you "your father has cancer, don't waste your time going to doctors, he's going to die anyway" so I sort of resent you coming here just to tell me prayers don't work.

The fact is, you don't know me, or my medical history, or my belief system, so you probably shouldn't be giving me advice about what to believe and not believe. I think we would be a lot better off if the educated adults of the world admitted they don't know everything.

Cindy

Everyday we see miracles if we allow ourselves to really see them. Just breathing is truly a miracle. We had a discussion at bible study on wed night.

A baby's first act is to 'breathe' or it doesn't live. Our final act is to take our last 'breath'...pretty wild when you think about it.

Recently the situation where the stroller got away from the mother in the subway station and it rolled under the train. Thankfully he was not seriously harmed/killed. That was a true miracle in my eyes.

Cindy I'm so happy for your miracle as well. Even when bad things happen we must try and see the good in everything.

Life is good!
Becky :)

Cindy, I'm so happy for you! What a wonderful gift for the holidays!

Arrana, You are looking for proof of something the does not ask to be proved. There is evidence of the powerful force of faith all around us - it shows up daily in the lives of the believers. You will find no more loving, supportive, hopeful people on this site than those with faith.

I would respectfully suggest you read Rabbi David Wolpe's new book "Why Faith Matters". (very short - just 200 pages - wonderful book!) It might give you some insight into the true essence of faith - not just witchcraft or religion, but a powerful force that allows people to become better - more compassionate, grateful and giving.

Faith is not supposed to answer all the questions in your head, but the questions in your heart and soul. Yes, of course, it's science that gives us answers as we peel back layer after layer and gain more and more knowledge about our physical world, but it doesn't mean we aren't, in our essence, spiritual beings.

Prayers aren't "vodoo" - they are acknowledgements of gratitude for what is and what might be.

By the way, I AM educated - I have a degree in Anthropology from UCLA. How would any of us be better off if I dismissed the reality and history of the faith experience - an experience, like music and kinship ties, that has been found in ever culture for all time. Would you also dismiss the reality of how a soul is filled with joy by music? Sorry, I would rather battle my cancer both on a scientific AND spiritual level.

I love lively discussion about different points of view, but there is something a little sad about your insistence that people "admit" something that they didn't even ask you to weigh in on. Is that supposed to help THEM, or just help YOU?

Congratulations, enjoy your holidays. I do believe in miracles and anything else that gives an individual courage and hope! No stone unturned is my motto, I go to church every week and have reiki every wednesday, I accept all gifts crystals, medals etc from loving and family and friends, sometimes even people I have just met, coz it gives me and them the feel good factor and that helps me continue! Good Luck to you All x Whatever floats your boat!

Great News! Happy Dance through out the Holidays!

Linda

Great news. I am so happy for you

I love this site. Im learning more and more every day about cancer and how people cope. I have been sceptical about faith and God as the earlier lady posted. I would love to believe in a benevolent and
ever present God and like most people i know i use him when i need to so its hypocritical to doubt i know but i cant help it and wonder why i am talking about God when my lovely caring and decent 48 yr old husband is dying of lung cancer. Wheres the sense in that? He has never harmed anyone in his life and other horrible people are spared. I too am educated with a MSC in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but love nature, people, the sea, the sky, music, poetry, life! This is why i find it hard to empathise with the notion of God, its almost like a lottery of who he will spare and desperation from us because we are dealing with chaos and the unknown. It s a bit like people never going to church until they are old and at death's door., however i love the replies especially from the lady with the Anthropology background all encouraging and intelligent, so sorry to be so cynical but in Britain we dont i suppose "bible bash" as much so it sounds a bit desperate when we hear it but thats not to say we dont want to have faith in something or someone maybe god is mother nature? love and best wishes to each and every one of you and yours, Karen Mcxxxxx

Cindy,
Congrats!!!! Do enjoy the holidays and enjoy your miracles!!!
God Bless!!
Val
