I am still hopeful, recovery is on the way soon!

My husband is 3a, has sugery done in May (was 1a, 3a after sugery shown one of the medestinal lymph node met) and received chemo for 7 weeks already. Howover, his PET scan yesterday shows a enlarged lymph node (from 1.2 to 1.4 cm) mildy increased SUV2.81, suspcious of met. Our oncologist thinks that is the case, and that's mean the progression of disease. It is a bad news, the treatment has changed to concurrent chemo + 6 weeks of radiation, plus chemo + Avastin after the radiation. I still tend to believe that we have discovered early and we can definitely do something....and he is finally be cured and recover. Pray to GOD , try my best to be positive, and be supportive are things that I can do everyday!

My heart is totally with you! If you don't mind sharing - what was the surgery? I also had 1a and went for surgery only to find 3a instead. They took the entire right lung and were able to clear the margins. I had no chemo and radiation wasn't felt to be warranted.

My surgery was 4/27/07. I am doing pretty well so far and able to live a pretty normal life. I don't lift heavy items, need to take care with being around people with flus and coughs ( my grandkids especially have given me a cold or 2) and I walk 2 difficult miles a day with hills. I get challenge my left lung to the max on hills but do pretty well.

I know that we are all different and that our courses are all unique. I was just curious as to the extent of surgery.

Warm thoughts go out to you, Marion

I will say a prayer for your husband.. everyone is different.. we have to be positive even when we feel the world is falling in sometimes.. brighter days are comming.. my prayers are with you..

God Bless
Lisa

Hi there,
You seem to have the same attitude as my wife and it is really important for both of you to be positive and even when things are at their lowest ebb that miracles can still happen. I hope things work out great for both of you
Warm wishes
Michael

Thanks for your support. People here are great and support, it makes me feel better. My husband has his left upper lung removed, and some lymph nodes removed (with one lymph node involved).

I've an assumption it definitely makes me feel better and positive and also sounds logically to me. The enlarged lymph node just discovered might have responeded to chemotherapy, if I think it in another around. My husband first PET scan was on May 7th, the result showed no lymph node involvment. Then the sugery was on 17th, the sugeron found one of the lymph node (a-p window) grew bigger and took it out examined....the result showed that was involved. He then received his first chemo on June 4th, and no PET scan done right before the begining of chemo. After 7th round of chemo, a PET scan showed a enlarged lymph node (a-p window as well). I thought it is actually that enlarged one has responded to chemo and get smaller. From May 7th to June 4th, no treatment except the sugery. So that enlarged lymph node might have already grown bigger than 1.4 cm. How do we know that within that almost a month period, that enlarged lymph node has changed. It might be a possibility too, right. This thought makes me feel better.

Hi Michael,

I read your post. Your wife is wonderful, given that her family is not being support. We, as the loved ones, should always stay strong and positive. You too, you are on the road to recovery too. You are your wife are in my prayers for sure. I pray to GOD everyday, everytime I finish the Rosary I feel great. I know GOD will answer my prayers and Mother Maria will pray for me too. GOD bless you and your family. BTW, we are in Hong Kong, in Asia!
