I have been sending letters to the TV stations in Nebraska. Well one responded wanting to know if there were any events planed for lung cancer awareness month. I replied that unfortunately there were not. I explained what I had gone through this year and that I was just hoping to get the facts about lc out.
This is here reply:

Hi Barb,
Keep us posted if an event should come up.
In order to do a story they really need an event to work around.
Sounds like you have been through alot. Good luck to you on your recovery!!
It is too bad all the cancers don't get the attention breast cancer does.

Thanks for writing and have a Great Day!
Barb~

So how do I respond without saying something along the lines of "you stupid b***h, the reason it doesn't get the attention of breast cancer is because of stupid b***hes like you". Needless to say, this is not what I expected from a news station "Thanks for writing and have a great day", give me a flipping break. I am serious about needing an intelligent response. Please help.

Barb

How about the event being we don't have any interested parties to throw us any events! it is all about power, and money, and recognition to some people.
Loads of luck changing the minds of mostly morons, and idiots!. I love /Dr. House he says it like it is. God bless us all Sandy

Dear Barb: How about the focus on: " isn't it odd that the #1 cancer killer, which kills more cancer than==== (insert stats)=== has no spectacular, newsworthy events during National Lung Cancer Month, nor any celebrity of notoriety willing to stand up for appeals, and such a meager amount of money being used to fund research for a disease killing so many people". Isn't that "newsworthy"? (Dumb shits!)
Blessings!

Dear Barb,

I am new to this disease, but after reading on several sites, I have come to see how little attention lung cancer gets compared to breast and pancreatic. For the life of me I do not understand it. So many well known people have perished with this disease that you would think their colleagues and society would realize the attention it deserves. Look at Dana Reeve--did she bring it on herself? People are unbelievably dense. Our surgeon told us while most people who have lc have smoked, many have never smoked at all. There has to be some way we can get some focus. I see so many trying and getting nowhere. As far as the media is concerned, I have lost complete faith in them. Its's all about money--theirs. But then again, how else can you reach the masses? A dilemma for sure. Thank you for your efforts.
Best to you.

LIN

I am never giving up. Lung cancer might take my life someday but I WILL NOT GO QUIETLY!!!!! Someday, somewhere, someone is going to listen to what I have to say. I have just started this journey; I have yet to reach my full pain in the ass potential.

Love and blessings to all,
Barb

Look up the Yale study that just said that less than 10% of smokers get LC. They don't know what causes any cancer, if they did, they'd have a cure for all of them. How about the kids that die from it. Tell them to do some research, they might learn something.
Take care, JC
