Heartburn

0 Recommendations

Hi,

I just had my lobectomy on Thursday. I am now experiencing what I think is heartburn. I am belching everything, even water, and having pain with swallowing and belching. Did anyone else experience this and was it temporary? Tums seem to help but is there anything that works better?

I think that is happening to me, where is your pain, mine seems to radiate down the middle of my back and hurts when swallowing. I had to have a gallbladder test which came up normal and next step is camera down my throat to rule out an ulcer (which i hope it is). Just started taking prevacid twice a day, you need to check with your doctor as it may only get worse.

The pain is felt in between my breasts internally. I feel it in my back too. I don't feel it in my stomach.

I had a lot of indigestion post op.Needed mylanta.Finally got on nexium.Good luck,Andi B

That is very normal after lobectomy.

Yes. I had this probem too. I still have it now actually. Doctors said it was not related tothe surgery but they are full of crap. I take protonix but there are some natural remedies. Some of the memeber on this site take organic apple cider vinegar (1 tsp before every meal) and it seems to work. I tried it but was not so lucky .

They gave me pepcid in the hospital, but the heartburn finally went away. (My lobectomy was 5/1/09) I did take Milk of Magnesia for the combination of stomach upset and SE from the analgesics. It is quite normal after surgery to have digestive symptoms and allllll sorts of gurgles.

Thanks for all the advice! I picked up some prilosec and it isn't bothering me as much. I just hope it goes away completely!

Apple Cider Vinegar tablets or Apple Cider Vinegar--preferably the organic, raw, unfiltered kind.

Best of luck. It's better for you, if it works, because it doesn't have the side effect of allowing gastric infection or lowering your WBC (white blood cell count) much like Prilosec/Prevacid can. It's worth a try and can be found at your local health food store or Whole Foods.

Good luck!
Danna
