HAS ANYONE TAKEN THE H1N1 VACCINE YET?

0 Recommendations

Just wanted to know if anyone has gotten this vaccine yet. They started giving it here to children and pregnant women. Not sure if my doctors office is going to get it. I wanted to know if anyone has gotten it or has heard any more about the safety of it.

God Bless

My Dr. recommended it but very doubtful if and when we might can get it. From what I have heard, after all the kids, care workers etc, high risk might have a chance but My oncologist said they have heard nothing as to what we might need to get it. I have gotten the reg flu shot and pneumonia so that is all I am counting on. My grandson has had the swine flu and none of the adults exposed to him got it....Thank goodness.

I am a health care worker.Even so, Drs here at the Anderson hospital associated medical clinic aren't giving it.This is in Meridian Ms I took the regular flu vacine I am still uncertain about the swine Flu vaccine.Regards AndiB

I believe those of us with lung ailments are considered in the high risk category, but the problem is getting ahold of the vaccine. I will certainly take advantage of it should it become available. Linnea

I do not understand this allure to taking the H1N1 or any other vaccine...
Google the "other side of the coin" behind these vaccines and stop listening to just the media hype and other pharmaceutical driven advocates...
Be informed about your own health and safety.
God bless,
Ellen

I work in a healthcare facility and took the H1N1
last Monday. I took the injection which is NOT
a live virus. I had no local reaction on my arm
and have not had any other side effects. I also
took the seasonal flu vaccine about 3 weeks ago.
No side effects from that either. I know this is a
matter of choice for everyone. I have health
issues and I have children and grandchildren that
I wanted to protect. Just wanted to let you know
what my experience was.

I will take it when it becomes available. I definitely want to protect myself.

All of this shortage and fear I think is political and media BS.

Hi, Yes I took it 2 days ago. I was nervous, but I don't know why. I take the seasonal flu vacc every year and I never get the flu. By the way, I am an ER nurse so I am over exposed, you know what I mean. My arm never even got sore. PS, I am stage 1 as well.
Peace,
MA

My husband asked his onc all about the vaccine at one of his appointments. The onc said, personally, he wasn't getting it. The nurse in the chemo unit that did his infusion last Wednesday said she wasn't getting it (one of her kids had the flu). My father-in-law, who has immunity issues due to a liver transplant and also a Dr., said he wasn't getting it. Our youngest had the flu last week.

The jury is still out in our house. However, after seeing the huge line-ups around each and every block at the clinics in Quebec, my husband said he wasn't waiting 2 + hours to get it!

Yes, I'm booked to have the vaccination (that's if it's the SWINE FLU vaccine you're talking about). I asked my oncologist if it was OK to take it, whilst on Tarceva and she said yes, undoubtedly. And of course, because of our compromised health situation to start with, it's a sensible precaution.

I've never had the flu in my life, but I took the seasonal flu vaccine. My doctor does not have the swine flu vaccine. Although I worry about young children getting vaccines with immature immune systems, I will get the swine flu vaccine if it becomes available.

To all of you considering the vaccine be careful, I always take the reg. flu vaccine and usually dont have a problem but this time within a week I was flat on my back only to find out I have the swine flu. This hasn't been fun and I want all to be careful, it makes you feel like your first go around with the cancer, hard to breath etc. Please talk to your doc for his best advice. Take care and God Bless you all. Sharon
