Has anyone taken holistic or alternative medicine products

My mom always used Shaklee products & lived to be 93. I used the protien shake mix with my radiation. After I received their catalog I saw this product called Vivix which protects & repairs cellular DNA etc. They also have a product called NutriFeron boosting immunity formula. I was thinking of trying these products but because they are expensive I was wondering if anyone on this site has used them. Or maybe someone with more knowledge of this type of product can look at them on shaklee.com. I just don't feel my chemo & radiation therapies did enough & that maybe these products may help.

i dont know about these two prodocts but i will look them up on the internet as should you. my dad has lung cancer stage 3a and i know we are going the natural way as with chemo and radiation. i dont think chemo is enough. we believe that in order to beat this thing and live long you have to make sure to keep the immune system strong. learn how to eat right and what to eat. goji berrys, broccoli and carrots should be in u diet everyday. special muschrooms are great that we make tea for him that he consumes three times a day. and for special herbs he takes varumin which is about 500$ for a supply and u can get it only in europe but u can call them talk to them and they will ship it to you. its a miracle herb. it attacks the cancer like chemo would but its all organic and has no side effects. on top of that it helps to build the immune system. if you really pay attention to long term survivors of ten years plus they all did non-conventional mixed with conventional treatments. dont feed you body more cancer when its trying to kill it. no box food, no sodas, no tap water, no hormones and additives or pestisides. also things like white flour, sugars over all should be cut out of you diet right now. cancer likes these things and feeds on them. another think i would like to share is that attitude and learning how to deal with the stress and fear is so important., that is half the battle right there. i know a man that had stage IV and lived 14 years because he changed his lifestyle. best wishes and prayers to you. lol.

I think the key Robjo is to understand what it is in these products that work. Most products that have a positive effect on cancer contain the same variants of "phytonutrients." So at the end of the day if you know what the phytonutrients are, then you can look at products that are fairly priced and that have the most clinical studies. I personally wouldn't buy products from an MLM company because they are marked up quite a bit to pay commission levels and those companies invest very little money into their own actual human clinical studies and instead rely on evangelical hype and random third party references to back up health claims.

My suggestion if you would take my advice is to understand that the phytonutrients out there with the most promising clinical effects are beta glucens (Epicor), curcuminoids (Curcumin C3 Complex), omega 3 (Cod liver oil), isothiocyanates(broccoli sprouts extract, wasabi), pectins (Pectasol), thiosulfonates (aged garlic extract) and ellagic acid (saberry). The cheapest products out there I found after doing 4 months of research are listed next to the nutrients. Saberry will not be available for another few months but is supposed to revolutionize antioxidant products. I have spoken to the manufacturers of Saberry who have been in business over 20 years and have over 100 development scientists on their staff world wide.

Most of these products are one a day and they only range from between 5-20 dollars for a suggested months supply.

I have provided a link for more information

So what specificly do you take every day. I am interested as you seem very knowledagble....Viki

If you are referencing me Viki, the research I did was mainly for my dad as he is the one with cancer. At the moment he is just taking the cod liver oil as he is skeptical about having to take too much stuff, although I have already purchased most of those for him which he is warming up too slowly. I have spoken with the company medical advisors, which they do have, for all but two of the products I mentioned and they are okay to take without drug interactions. Epicor is a one a day product which can be taken anytime with or without food. Curcumin C3 is a one to two a day product which also can be taken without food. In fact the garlic and broccoli are the only ones suggested to take with meals. The pectasol and wasabi are more detox with the pectasol taken multiple times throughout the day and the wasabi before bed so it has the time it needs to work. The Pectasol and wasabi do not need to be taken continuously but can be taken as 2 week regiments every month or so. I can only go off the clinical research at the moment which is very encouraging, but even with just the cod liver oil my father's doctor is skeptically comfortable in saying that it has helped with the shrinking of his tumor.

Blujonny...I was directing my question to you. I really appreciate your response. I am going to look into this further as I am interested. I have printed it. Please keep us posted on how your Father is doing. Additionally, I have been reading many articles that talk about Asparagus.....God Bless!.....Viki

Viki, I forgot to mention he is also drinking pomegranate juice (ellagic acid) which has newly found clinical studies in relation to tumors.

I will definitely keep you posted Viki and good luck with your own research! There is one last thing I'm currently looking at, something called Bio-M Complex which is a unique trace element supplement using various salts to add mineral balance back to the blood cells. I'm not sure if it's any different than taking a trace mineral supplement or what the studies are on it, but the story goes that a guy who has mesothelioma takes it and is still healthy and alive 2 years later after the doctor gave him 2 months. So we'll see with that.

Blujonny...Thank You!!! I am headed to Asia for a month starting Thursday.....will be back mid-August. Figured I had better travel now in the event that, for some reason, I cannot at a later date.....;0). Trying my best to live. I am always very interested in anything that, hopefully, can help.......Viki

What can I say - the proof is in the pudding - recently I recommended NutriFeron (developed by the Dr. who discovered Interferons) to a friend with Hep C - Well in March her viral load was 3.5 million and in August it was 0. Pretty impressive As for me, I have crappy lungs - catch everything that goes around in the winter and spend weeks in bed - well last year made it through the entire winter with only a 3 day sniffle - for me that is very impressive - my sister has asthma - again made it through the whole winter no attacks

I also take Vivix - got on that because of my history with blood clots - I have been on it a little over a year - doing great - hair turning darker (common reaction) and a lot more energy. Is it expensive - yeah! But I was so impressed I put my priest on it as he was looking pretty worn out. He loves it - this product does so many different wonderful things, improves circulation, adds breathing capacity, lowers cholesterol, and the list goes on and on. If you ever want a copy of all the research I did on these two products, I will be happy to send it to you - each is about 20 pages long so I only send it out by email.

I am so tired of all the hype everytime someone wants to promote a product, but when you take a product that was designed by the doctor who discovered Interferons - how much better does it get?

Thank you so much for sharing all this important information with us. I am trying to learn as much as possible about all the alternative and complimentary treatments that are available and that have worked for people. I tried going to your link but it does not work. Is there a shorter link that you can send and then one can search for the specific products.
Thanks
Nili

Sorry, I don't know but for some reason that link didn't work for me a couple of months ago but a week later it did. It's not working again now so I'm not sure what's going on with it. Here is a basic link to phytonutrients and if you look into each thing individually you will find out more about what phytonutrients they contain. I will say that the months since I first posted this I have come across the conviction/discovery that taking aged garlic, wasabi and blue green algae (AFA) can be very beneficial. They seem to have a very thorough effect on the body and encompass a lot of things. Shark liver oil may help also. With just taking the aged garlic and blue green algae my dad noticed that he felt perkier and started to experience less pain. Not necessarily more energy but he did feel better.

Kerease I would love to have a copy of your research.
My email is jfrank9844@aol.com. I think we have to use supplements as well as treatments and I too am so sick of all the hype about useless expensive products.

MY mom takes Milk Thistle for liver protection, you need it considering all the chemicals they give you. She also takes Immune Assist which to me is the best Mushroom compound in the market. Check them out

I take turmeric capsules, flaxseed capsules and an immune booster called IMM power that is also i believe a mushroom compound. I am also going to start with D3. My cousin is a nurse and said that vitamin is good.
