H1N1 in the House!

0 Recommendations

OK, so the moment I've been fearing for months became a reality last week. My six-year-old tested positive for H1N1. The surprising part? It wasn't so bad! She had mild flu symptoms a I made it through with moderate cold symptoms. (I am a stage IV lung cancer patient currently on Alimta for maintenance.) My doc put me on Tamiflu as soon as my daughter got the positive test results and I started showing symptoms. My symptoms included low grade fever, achiness, cough and congestion. I was not tested for H1N1, only treated as if I had it due to the exposure. I still plan to get the shot, when/if it becomes available.

It is important to know Tamiflu needs to be dispensed within 48 hours of symptoms to be effective, so don't be shy about reporting your condition to your doctor.

Good luck and good health to all!

My 12 yr. old grandson had it and he missed school for a week. Ran 103 fever the first few days and he took tamiflu. What surprised us the most, was no one else in the household got it. I plan on getting the vaccine if it ever becomes available here.

Thank God for both of you! and.. thanks so much for posting this, I was worried about this myself. I get sick and I really get sick since lung cancer. My lungs are so bad. A mild cold gets me breathing so labored, that I can't stand the discomfort.I am so afraid of this bug, and you made me feel more relaxed and I sincerely thank you.
God bless Sandy
