Wow I was confused by title there. I thought you wanted a swine flue scan? Chemo brain can do that. I"m sending prayers for clean scans . Best wishes always.

Good luck with the scan. As for the H1N1, I would get the vaccine since this flu attacks the lungs pretty aggressivley and even healthy people have become critically ill. There are no vaccines available here in CT but I would go for it! All this H1N1 shit is driving me bonkers too esp since I have to travel for work and the planes are full of germs! I am dealing with a cold now, I think or I hope! LOL.

Hi Bernadette:

You got my prayers each and every night. Say, is your doctor sending you for a ct scan of your brain or an MRI of your brain?

Also about the swine flu vaccine, I am undecided yet. I have an appointment with my Oncologist tomorrow, and I am still sick with this cold. He may not want me to get any kind of vaccine until I get rid of this stuff that has been driving me nutso for almost a month.

I will let you know what he has to say about it.

Sending love and prayers your way.
Marylou

marylou,
yes a ct scan of the brain by the way how is that done? do u have to get an iv or jst go straight thru the machine? whats the diff between a mri and ct scan? yes please let me know what yur docs opinion is on the h1n1 vaccine and ima ask mine too.

Praying for clean scans, and that you and your family stay as healthly as possible. Huggs, Karen

Dear Miracle b: Sending plenty of prayers your way for a crystal-clear scan.
Regarding the H1N1 vacine, I'm still uncertain about it. I had the regular flu shot and now have a call in for my doctor's opinion to see if he thinks I need the H1N1. I certainly want to protect myself - after all the cancer crap, I sure wouldn't want to be done in by the flu! That would really piss me off!
Sending you prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts - in essense - all the good stuff!
Blessings!

Hi,
I am going to take the vaccine when it comes available, too risky i believe not to get it.
I am sending prayers for a good scan for you, I bet that headache is all the stress you are under from all of the Swine flu scares in your area. I also think this weather for some is worse in the fall for headaches. My hubby used to get real bad migraines always in early fall, and then again early spring. Here is my prayer for you for no more headaches either.
Don't worry about any of us thinking you are dramatic about any thing. I think we all are afraid of things. We have so many things going on in the country, and the Swine flu along with our own illness it is enough to make us all very dramatic at times.
Take care and write some more.
Sandy

Hi MB,

Sorry you are having headaches. I think it is probably from stress. My wishes for clean scans goes your way.

My sister goes for her scan results tomorrow. So wish us well too! I am nervous so I can imagine how she feels. Will let you all know when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

I am sending my thoughts and prayers for good news.

I just saw my Pulmonogist today and he said the best scan to detect brain mets is an MRI. (which I already knew but I wanted to confirm it in my own mind.)

Good luck and I'm not going to have the flu shot. I'm just not convinced on this one just yet. Just my 2 cents.

Best wishes,
Connie

Sending prayers that your scan will be clean. God bless and let us know how you make out.

Nancy

I plan on getting the H1N1 shot if it becomes available here. So far just available for pregnant and children.
My grandson who is 12 had already had it and it was not that bad for him. No one else in the household got it. There are also healthy kids that are dying from it here in our area.

I have MRI of the brain and yes I always get IV injected also partially through the scan.

Prayers for a clean scan.

hi connie,
so will a ct scan show me if their was sumthing going on in my head?? sumtimes i think all this is a bunch of crap like really how do u know if sumthings going on? jst with symptoms and sumtimes u dnt get symptoms until its kinda late i wish since they already know whats going on with me they wud jst routinely do test but i bet has alot do do with insurance which i know i dnt have the best of so they jst wait until i do complain about sumthing then first do a ct scan and if it shows sumthing then go aheasd and do futher test so like if sumthing were to be going on with the rest of my body like liver or kindneys or bones do the labs detect that or will my pet/ct can detect that? gosh this stuff gets really confusing!!

Yep, your insurance would be who dictates what you get and what you don't. (for the most part). MRI's cost more then a CT scan. A CT will show brain mets too, but the MRI picks up more, from my understanding.

Also, A PET Scan does pick up bone mets and other organs where they scaned. I'm sure they went from the top of your neck down to your pelvis and that covers everything but the brain.

Just keep complaining, it keeps them on there toes. If you have pain or something that doesn't feel right to you, TELL THEM. This is how the journey of lung cancer seems to go.

Hang on tight. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know what you find out.

Hugs,
Connie

hi
My prayers for a clean scan. My hubby goes in to ONC Thur. to get his scan results from last week. Pray we get good results there. He just went thru radiation on his lower spine ...met was found there about 1 mo ago. I pray it is not anywhere else. This is very scary... don't be afraid to be a little scared. This is hard for everyone. I get so worried too. This website helps me with that and give some positive things to think about and much prayer and love. One thing we know we aren't alone in this fight. If that helps...
Your pic is very beautiful too. Good luck

Bernadette:

They can do a CT scan or an MRI. I have had (I think) 3 MRIs in almost 3 years. The MRI is not any big deal except it's noisy as heck.

When I have the MRI they take pictures before, and then they give you an injection to show contrast.

All the time they are doing this test, they usually talk to you through a microphone telling you "the next noises you will be hearing will last 2 minutes, or 3 minutes.

It's annoying, but I like to hear they didn't find anything.

Ahhh, I had my appointment with my Oncologist today and he is very unhappy about those 2 little nodes lighting up a bit. Well I have been sick practically all of October and nothing seems to be helping so he put me on Prednisone. I cannot take any kind of shots while I am taking that so I will be skipping any vaccines for now.

I will see the Oncologist in 1 month and probably have another scan in December. If everything is ok, I will probably get the regular flu shot.

Much Love,
Marylou
