Hello, I'm new to this arena and hoping that someone will have links to online info describing groundglass opacities in relation to SCLC. Thanks for any direction you may be able to give.

what an awesome question!
before I go further, welcome!
here's the easiest way I've found to look up stuff like this - go to www.ask.com - and it will generally give you a combination of stuff written in English plus that written in technical terms.
for example: http://www.medcyclopaedia.com/library/topics/volume_v_1/g/ground_glass_atte nuation.aspx
gives you a semi-English definition.
The ground glass refers to the way the area of the lung looks on the x-ray - hazy, like you're looking through ground glass. It says that this kind of area is due to an inflammation (a bug) or fibrosis (scar tissue) that's not associated with blood vessels.
Therefore, what they're saying is that there's a hard spot in the lungs related to where there's scar tissue.
hope that helps
hugs

Thanks Pat, the site link was very helpful. I kinda, sorta, maybe had an idea of what the report meant.
