I have a new nodule (3) very small but there. Wre have biopsied. I also have metateses to the lymnodes in the chest area and in the supraclavicular area. Has anyone had a similiar situation where the chemo prescribed was Gemzar-Cisplatin and what were your results after chemo. I would appreciate any comment on this drug combination.
They changed me to this mix after I had a bad reaction to taxol. The nodules in my neck have reappeared and am having problems. This mix did not work well for me. Seems to be a lesser mix in my opinion.

I am currently on Gemzar, 5th line of treatment. onc didn't feel that cisplatin would give much improvement and the side effects were tough. I contacted dr West and he agreed. See my posts. Gemzar leaves me tired, low white counts and platlets. One more cycle to go than scans in Dec.
My mom just finished her first cycle of this mix and she ended up with a blood transfusion Thursday. She has had low white counts and platelets.

I have just finished my 1st cycle of Gemzar/Carboplatin and am quite pleased with the results. The visible lumps in the supraclavicular area have shrunk. It is not my imagination, as family members have noticed it too. I won't see my doctor until Dec 2nd for my 2nd cycle, but I'm sure he'll see the difference. Plus, other than fatigue, I have had no side effects. No nausea or pain. I take no meds since I don't have to. Hope this is helpful. God Bless!!

My husband has been on this mix since he found out he has NSCLC Stage IIIB. He had 1 CT scan and it showed the mass had shrunk. He has done 9 cycles and will be taken a new CT scan Tuesday. Hopefully we will have good news again. My husband also has leukemia (CLL) and this mix is not for that but has shrunk one of his lymph nodes from 11cm to 10cm.
