My mom had the upper lobe of her right lung removed 2 years ago and the cancer is not in her left lung. The doctor doesn't think surgery is the answer and would like to do radiation and then chemo because she fears there maybe a small amount of cancer in the lower right lung. My mom feels it is a death sentence and I don't know what to say to her except encourage her to do the treatment recommended and live the best life she can.

I had inoperable cancer in my right lung (Aug 2005) treated with Chemo and Radiation. It never has come back but, I do have a nodule in my Left lung now that has begun to grow. My ONC has opted to try Tarceva instead of regular Chemo. It is NOT a death sentence. I plan to be around for quite some time!!
