Eating

My dad was just diagnosed with lung cancer 7 weeks ago. He is in the hospital getting aggressive radiation treatments. He had his 5th one today and can not breathe when he tries to eat. He has lost 40 pounds due to this and a bout of c. diff. Does anyone have anything encouraging to say? Please?

Gwynne, I am so sorry that your Dad (and you) are having to go through this. His oncologist should be able to help him. Surely, they can do something to assist him nutritionally and with his breathing. I remember having to have a spray to my throat to ease pain before I could eat (for a short while), but I did not suffer from what you describe, unable to breath. Ask his doctor. I am sure they can help him. In the meantime, I will be praying for him and for you. God bless you both. Love, Judy

I know how hard this is right now, it is at the top of the charts in severity, but there is a better side to all of this, it takes a lot of patience and time for the body to heal after radiation and chemo. It plays havoc on the body, so bad, and it may be months before he wll feel better. That C-Diff is awful rough to go through also, but after it is finished, and he starts eating better, and the treatments are working it will be better. just have faith even when it seems there isn';t any. Have hope he will live. I am praying for you. God bless Sandy
