I'm trying to convince my family to stop drinking soda for health. What can I say to be convincing of the destructive effects?

I'm trying to convince my family to stop drinking soda for health. What can I say to be convincing of the destructive effects?
Recently at my local grocery store, i had a real eye-opener. I went down the soda isle because my husband drinks seltzer. All i saw were very obese people in that isle at that time..a lot of them (which is what made me go "whoa! I have never been a soda drinker because i have known for a long time that too much of anything artificial is very bad. The same with Equal, etc. Even stevia may not be good..and most likely isn't. I know you are talking soda in general.. but diet soda is even worse.
Have you tried the V8 Fusion juices?
Some of the naturally flavored seltzers are good too...the kind without sugar or sweeteners.
As far as how to get the family from drinking sodas, I just don't buy it. If they want to buy their own, maybe an occasional soda isn't too bad. But there are those who drink soda like crazy! ,,,very bad stuff!
Drinking soda isn't just an issue with weight. Soda, especially colas, have phosphates in them. Phosphates bind to calcium. Long term use of soda can cause osteoporosis in women at a much younger age than ever before. People think that because they drink diet soda they are safe, not true. It has nothing to do with the sugar.
Very acidic and causes massive oxidation -
Certainly soda has many ingredients which can cause health risks..not just the sugar, which is bad as well... or the artificial sweetners.. there is nothing good or healthful about it.
Those who consume a high amount of soda on a regular basis risk an onset diabetes and high blood pressure just to name a few more.
I think on this site, we have a lot more worries than drinking soda. I drink it when I want it and I really think that people could focus on alcohol and drug use and try to get that under control before they try to make people who enjoy soda feel like they're commiting a crime.
Are you a lung cancer survivor?
My 2 cents
I drink soda occasionally, however, one thing I have learned from observation in my 71 years is that people who seem to have a soda in their hands constantly destroy their teeth. Darn shame too.

I think the person who asked the question just made a mistake in catagory...no harm done! :-)
