Devastated!.... It's back!!!

0 Recommendations

My mom just called me to tell me that her cancer has returned.... again! I am so devasted... No... I'm pissed!

She has had 9 months of clean scans... the last one just 2 1/2 months ago!

Her comment to me was 3 strikes and your out... right? I said NO... You will fight this again just like the last 2 times! My poor Mom. This sucks big time!

Why is there not more funding for this beast? I am sick and tired of the law makers ignoring this disease!

Dear Jodi,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom, but you sound like my daughter who is very upset at the no funding for lung cancer patients. I have been battling it for almost 4 years now and am in another stage of waiting to hear results that I am sure are not good. We all have to keep fighting and not give in to this horrible disease. My prayers are with you and your family.

Leslie

Linda;

I'm sorry that I have not responded to your posting, I have been having some family issues to take care of and as soon as I have resolved them I will go to the web site and post something for your mom. I would be more than happy to help.

I just didn't want you to think that I was ignoring your posting. I just saw it for the first time and I would love to help.

GOD BLESS,
LINDA

Dear Jodi,
Don't ever feel guilty about how much time your mom has had the cancer compared to someone else. We all have it and some longer than others but let that be encouraging to you. This way you can feel your mom is going to be there one day too or not have it at all.

You just hang in there and look to the Lord and us for your comfort. We are always here for you and don't ever feel any question is not worth asking, They all are worth it. We have so many people here that can help you and your mom get thru this.

GOD BLESS
LINDA

I want to thank each and everyone of you who responded. The support and encouragement from all of you means so much to me. I am so thankful to have all of you during good times and bad times.

Hugs to all of you!

Jodi

Hi Linda,

Thank you for the encouraging words. I feel guity moaning and complaining when there are people like you who have been fighting this for much longer and with such a positive attitude.

It really knocked the wind out of our sails but we have re-grouped and will continue the fight. I am going to the Onc. with Mom on Wednesday so I can discuss some of my concerns about the treatment.

Take care and God Bless,

Jodi

Hi Jodi:
Please don't get discouraged with this coming back. I am on my 5th line of chemo and also 6.5 years. So I have been fighting for a long time and will continue to fight.

I understand your anger. You think the beast is gone and all of a sudden it appears from no where. That is hard to handle but you just keep on fighting, You do what you need to do to get rid of that beast.

I have beaten all the odds for many years now and I will continue to do so. I will never give up. The cancer is always here with me and we just try to keep it in check. So far things are good.

Hang on to the blessings for you and your mom. They are there and try to find the comfort you need within the Lord.

GOD BLESS
LINDA

AMEN! LC has so been ignored. Tell your MOM, NO, don't let it win.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am still not able to fully grasp the latest news. I am putting on a brave face for Mom of course but this time around I am having a hard time. I have called her Dr. to find out more about what is happening. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again!

Jodi, I am sorry to hear about you getting this news, about your mom so soon in the holiday season. I am on my 3rd bout with the monster STAGE IV, and I just had my 83rd treatment yesterday. I was given 3 months 6 years ago and I am the longest living survivor in the WORLD that is on the drug Avastin. It appears your mom (G-D Bless her) has a great attitude and is a born fighter. You tell her that attitude is 70-80% of the battle. Now lets get to you!!. It sounds like your a wonderful caregiver and I want you to know how much that means. If you want to talk, E-mail me and I will send you back my phone #

Linda you are a 6 1/2 year survivor of lung cancer. If you can give hope and encouragement to my mom who has stage IIIb lung cancer I know our family and friends would love to hear your story and how you keep the faith and hope to survive. Visit my moms web page and leave a note to her.

Jodie - Similar story to Meadowbreeze and Mariet - 4 years - no remission - still fighting. Tell your mom it is sooooo important to remain positive and fight this beast. Sending hugs and positive thoughts for your mom and you.

Sylvia

Marie,
I read your beautiful story and plan to share with my mom. She is also 62, and like your daughter, my name is Tracy (different spelling).
Thanks for sharing your story. Stay strong, you are an inspiration.
Tracy

Oh Jodi I am so sorry, this is terrible news. I know what you are going through, we have been on a similar roller coaster. They have to come up with a better maintenance plan for SCLC for the first few years after diagnosis. It feels like one punch in the gut after another, it sucks. I feel so bad for our parents. We have to keep them positive and fighting as long as we can. Keep us posted on what the next line of treatment will be. I'm praying for your Mom.

Stacie

jodi - sorry about this horrible turn of events. most important keep your mom's attitude positive. we are struggling right now with the same thing. Dad's cancer has started growing again after only a 2 month break. the 2nd line chemo (topotecan) is kind of kicking his butt and it is very discouraging to him. but. . . we are hanging in there and trying to control the side effects. will keep you guys in my prayers.
maria

Marie - That's a beautiful story. I love your attitude. Thanks for sharing that.

IMy story is similar to Meadowbreeze. Dx Feb 06 Stage 4. Non operable, no rad. Just treatments. I am in my 5th line now with Gemzar. I have never had clean scans but I keep on fighting. For more about me see my profile also there is a link to my story that was done by a local newspaper.

Please keep us posted we care. Marie T

Dear Jodi,
Tell mom not to get too discouraged. I am a 6.5 year survivor and have had 5 lines of chemo already. I was given a year to live 3 years ago and then a year ago I was given 13 months to live and I have beaten all the odds.

Your mom can do the same thing. Just tell her to keep a good healthy attitude and she might just beat the beast. Mine has returned so many times that it's natural for me and I go on fighting,

Tell her to hang in there and keep the faith.

GOD BLESS
LINDA

Jodi,

I am sorry for your news about your mother and you and your family are in my prayers. There aren't many ex-sclc postings so I reading all.

My dad - 80 dx in July with ex-sclc just finished his 6 rounds of chemo and will have a scan in about 4 weeks. I am already worried about the results.

Please keep us informed.

Pam
