It's me again, had pet and ct results wanted to do a biopsy however when I got to the hospital and waited for hrs. I was told it had to be post-poned because they had no clear view what to biopsy. since I had the upper right lobectomy in 2-07 there was no lung in the area that lit up.It was more by the pluerial lining and might be scar tissue, they said the lit areas were pin point sized and not just 1. I have had severe pain in these areas, upper back shoulder blade area going under my arm pit thru the breast to my chest bone.I hope the scar tissue(if thats what it is) is causing this pain.I have suffered with this so long nothing helps anymore and I take very potent meds.I am waiting to hear when I go to have a pet/ct scan, they want to see if there is anything to biopsy.I have really fallen into a bad depression over this and the pain makes it worse.my primary doc wants me to go to the er for pain control but its not worth it because they treat you like a druggie! Any sugesstions? I think I should get a 2nd opinion, live in Dayton,Oh. any one know some good onocologists? Thanks so much to all of you.

Janet,

I am sooo sorry to hear about everything you are going through! Depression is completely normal during this time. Try not to let it snowball. (didn't do anything today so you feel guilty and even worse tomorrow) Give yourself some slack and allow yourself some time to accept everything that is happening to you. Keep in frequent contact with us if it helps you keep your mind occupied.

I beg and plead you to get a second opinion. It is always important with cancer, but ESPECIALLY in cases like yours when things aren't "black and white."

I'll be thinking of you!!

I'm curious if anyone else has the pain through the breast. Mine feels like it comes all the way through the back and through the breast.

OMG Janet, I cant,t believe that you are going through all of this BS. How long can it take for them to order a pet scan. I am so lucky. I am being treated at a teaching hospital because I have no insurance or money. When I go for a scan they read it with-in the hour. If I need a test they do it rIght now, no wating.
I just don't understand the lack of respect.
Doctors are supposed to be compashinate people helping the sick and injured. Can't they understand what you are going through?. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you are a human being in need of some type of help and support.
As long as I am here I will share this with you. I have been on pain meds for only 3 months and I just had a feeling that i was becomming a bit too dependent. I stopped for the last 3 days. I was right even though I hate to admitt it. It has been a long tired achey 3 days but if I didn't give it a break I would never know how I really feel..
I hope & pray that you can get the tests done soon and be on your way to a very bright and shiny future..

Hi Guys, I think the pain is different for everyone. With a full blown surgery I would say the pain between scar tissue and just healing can be very intense. I'm 8 yrs out from my surgery and yes even today I have pulling and some minor discomfort. It's just a reminder of the cancer everyday. I thank God every time I feel it , its much better than the alternative and no pain. lol
Janet is there a teaching hospital or a major hospital close to you. I know a lot of them have whats called pain centers and they have a host of different things to try to alliviate the pain.
Do get a second opinion it can't hurt. The pet scan is so intense that it probably is scaring because everytime you have pain it means your injuring something to cause it. I would think then you would show this as cell activity that would be higher than usual in that area. Which would show on a pet scan. That is my own non medical opinion.
GO FOR A SECOND OPINION!- John

Hi Julie,
A definate YES to that one, although I think mine is from surgery and pulled and cut stuff in there.
Is this a new area of distress for you?...When is your next check up?...I don't know about you guys but it makes me crazy living with this stuff, and even crazier to think of dying with it. It all makes for a very long day (and night).
I believe that I am just now (after 3 lung cancer operations) in 3 years beginning to feel the impact of this UGLY disease. I can,t stand just sitting around waiting for it to strike again. I sure am not being very positive today so I guess I better check out for now...
Let's all go do something very naughty today...

Have you seen a pain specialist? They will have ways to figure out what is going on and different ways to treat it. Good luck.
