Dad Back In Hospital!

0 Recommendations

Dad Has now been admitted back to the hospital yesterday. His platelets were @ 7 when they should be at 140. His white blood count was normal. Now today his platelets are up but the wbc is all wacky. I can't go visit him I am sick and am not exposing him to anything else than what he as to deal with now. The doc told my sister the scan showed the tumor in his lymph nodes has shrunk but the one in his chest has not changed, He also said that when they get him stable enough they want to do a bone marrow test because his platelets where low before chemo so they feel the cancer might be in his marrow. If this is the case the onc said we will cross that bridge when we get there. But I want to know what is the prognosis if it is. He wont tell us. He did say dad is day to day they are not sure if he will even make it 18 months. The chemo puts him out for 2-3 weeks so we get 1 week a month of happy go lucky dad. The rest is pain and hospital. I want my dad to feel better and get through this but i am not sure he is strong enough. What can we expect next.

I don't have the answers you are looking for but my Dad also has ED-SCLC. I will be watching your responses very closely. I am sorry that you have to go through this. I hope the docs can stabilize your Dad and he can feel better. I wish you success - stay strong.

I don't have any answers either. Just wanted to let you know you and your family are in my prayers, and I hope they can get your Dad back on his feet. My dad also has E-SCLC. Like Maria, I will be watching to see how he does. Keep your chin up, my friend.

I hope that your dad is feeling better soon and gets some quality of life time.

My dad has SCLC-ED. He spent a good chunk of yesterday at the onc's office and hospital. He had to get two units of blood since his hemoglobin was 7.6. His WBC is 0.1. His platelets were 23. No wonder he felt crappy for a few days.

I don't have any answers for you, either, but I wanted you to know I'm praying for your dad. Keep us updated on his situation.

Huge hugs and lots of prayers!

My prayers are with your Dad and your family. It is all such a horrible battle. And so scary waiting to see if or where else the cancer might be.
