Hello everyone,
Was wondering if you ask for the lowest amount of radiation to be given while having a ct scan done, does it affect your results reading in any way?
Thank You,
Tonya

As far as I have ever heard, this is not an opotion, it is built into the equipment. I have had more than 25 CCT scans, many full-body, without evidently any problem associated with radiation. Add to that, over the years many X-rays. I doubt that you need to be concerned.
The number of slices of the machine does effect the quality of what can be discerned from the scans. 64 slice is considered newest and best.

Thank You HighlandGuy, My husband has had a cough off and on for about five months and he had a ct scan yesterday without contrast and we a waiting to hear from his doctor. What type of machine gives 64 slice? Do you think my husbad should have a ct scan with contrast/pet scan? I lost my mom almost 7 months ago to lung cancer and we had to push them to do test. So from experience do not want to wast any time with husband testing. I did not know that the radiation does could not be lowered. I was told to ask for the lowest amount of radation dose during testing or you would not receive it. Maybe some machines are different.
Thank Again,
Tonya
