Chelsea...

Hi everyone,
I am sorry it has been awhile since I have posted anything...
Chelsea was admitted into the hospital this past Thursday. Unfortunately the flu was being passed around my house and I tried my best to get her out and away. But low and behold she started with flu like symptoms on Thursday and it quickly progressed into high fevers of almost 104. After 2 days of being in the hospital and running high fevers, she quickly became very congested and SOB requiring a high amount of oxygent to keep her levels up. Then a chest xray showed she has pneumonia in 2/3 of right lung. Because her lung cancer is in the left lung with small collapse do to the location of the tumor she is already compromised. So having the pneumonia in the right has made her really sick. Her blood counts dropped causing her to require a blood transfusion (which she was very scared about), it was her first transfusion.
Fortunately her fevers have stopped and she seems to be breathing a little better today. She has scared us a few times the last couple of days (as well as the nurses) Respiratory treatments and antibiotics seem to be helping, although the Pulmonary specialist doesn't know whether it is viral or bacterial pneumonia as of yet. They repeated her echo to check her heart function again. She is extremely congested and wheezy in her chest and they want to make sure she is not going into pulmonary edema.
She has been especially tearful about being in the hospital again, I can't blame her!
We actually have an appt to go to IU for a research study this Wednesday, but with her being sick I am not sure if we will be able to make the trip...
This morning the Pulmonary doctor told us her xray looks a little improved.... We will take that result of worsening!!!
She seems to be in a little better spirits this morning. But still pretty short of breath when she gets up to the bathroom....

Just thought I would let you know what is going on with Chelsea....

Continued positive thoughts and prayers needed to get her through this rough time....

As always, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone here as well!

(((HUGS)))

Hi Brenda and Chelsea,
I am so sorry she had to get that darn flu on top of everything else. I am going to pray that maybe the high fevers could have possibly worked on killing of the cancer cells! I hope she and your family is feeling better and you are in my thoughts and prayers. (((HUGS)))

I am so sorry she has been so ill. I hope this season people know enough to stay away from her if they are sick not to come over.Is she going to be able to get a flu shot, and what about this swine flu shot. i don't think she will get that. I just pray to God she pulls through this one. I imagine what a scare this has been for you all. Many prayers, and thanks for telling us.
God bless Sandy

Tell Chelsea we are here for her and praying for a quick recovery from this nasty spell. Be positive and just let the hospital take care of her and get her through this. She will come through this. Take care, JC

I hope that Chelsea get's better very soon. My son's high school had shut down for 2 days because so many kids have the flu. I have another son in middle school and pray that the flu does not spread there too.

Dear Brenda and Chelsea: What a frightening experience! I'm so glad Chelsea is safe and is being well cared for. Enough is enough! Praying for health, comfort and peace for you both. Brenda, I hope you can get some rest - you must be exhausted. Blessings!

Please tell Chelsea that we are all praying and rooting for her. Dang flu is taking down a lot of people.

I recently learned that fevers when sick is a good thing since it helps the body fight off those nasty bugs.

Love to all,
Marylou

Brenda and Chelsea,

Oh my, Brenda. I am so sorry for Chelsea. I have a daughter, she is 20 and at Clemson, and her name is Chelsea, also. She is the light of my life and my right arm...in fact, she is the whole right side of my body. We were alone together for many years until I remarried ten years ago.

I will keep you guys in my prayers. I am not a frequent writer on this site, but know that my karma (such as it is) is coming your way.

Tell Miss C to keep her little chin held high!

Hi Brenda,
I am thinking of and praying for all of you.
