Button to prevent a journal entry from appearing in "Active" list

0 Recommendations

There are times when I want to write a journal entry which is not meant for discussion but is meant perhaps to tell my friends both on and off the board how I am doing, or even just as writing therapy. Other times I do want to start a discussion on a topic that isn't on the list - and a journal entry posted on the "Active" list is a great place for that.

With the "Share with:" buttons, I can choose to share with Public, Members, or friends, but if I want to include friends who are not members, I have to choose Public. On the Journal entry itself, I can choose to accept comments or not. But the basic fact is, everbody who signs on is invited to look at it.

Could you add another button to the Journal choices- selecting "My Journal Only" or "Active List", I think it would add another dimension of usefulness to the site.

And of course, since I am posting this as a discussion, I invite anybody to tell me if they agree or not.

Hi Susan. If you un-check the Lung Cancer Alliance Survivors group when posting a journal entry, the entry will only appear in your personal profile and in your friends' lists of posts from their friends. It won't appear in the group here. Is that what you're after, more or less?

Thanks, Walter,

It looks like just what I want. An easy solution, too.

But now I have another question, which is, if I want to send a non-member friend a link to my journal, how can I do it? I went to the journal page in my account, but it didn't specifically mention SusanK2 in the link - just https://www.inspire.com/member-journal/full/ How would that get an outsider to my journal?

Thanks for the additional info.

Susan

Hi SusanK2,

Just replace "member-journal" with your username (SusanK2) to share with friends.

Pat,

I doubt if I will give up posting, and commenting, any time soon - the communication through this board has become very important to me.

And I'm glad this post made you giggle on a sucky day.

Hugs right back at ya ...

Susan
