Budwig Diet

0 Recommendations

Hi
My Dad has sclc, and was wondering if it would be a good idea to try the Budwig Diet.

Please could you help me with information, and if you think it really is a good thing.

Also if he took this remedy daily do you think it would help to fight his cancer:
Freshly Ground Flaxseed
Cayenne
Garlic
Red Pepper

Sorry im new to all this and just want to try anything to help my Dad fight his Cancer.

Thank you

Lisa

Lisa, what stage does he have? Has he started tx, if so, what is he receiving? Diet can be key. They do say to eliminate sugar, red meat, and dairy. There are some here that do the Budwig diet, one had a recipe posted recently. I beleive the diet helps keep the immune system in shape. Good luck and take care, JC

Hi JC

Thank for your reply.
He has extensive, although it is still only in 1 lung, he has started his 2nd lot of chemo, and doing really well.

Take Care

Lisa

Sorry what does tx mean.

Tx is treatment. Dx is diagnosis. Lots of these little tidbits here. Good luck to your father. Take care, JC

Hi,
My husband was diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IV at the end of August. He started doing the Budwig Protocol two weeks later. He has still not started an official treatment plan but has been doing the Budwig Protocol for the past two months. His last CT scan, last week, showed that his tumor was totally stable and had not grown one milimeter. We do not know whether this is due to the Budwig Protocol or not, but we are continuing to do it.
Personally I think it is worth a shot as it, supposedly, strengthens your immune system and maybe will help you tolerate other treatments, if you choose to do them, better.
Good Luck and Good Health

Hi Nilli

Thank you so much for the info, and I wish your husband well.

Can you tell me what meal plan you have, also does he have the daily drink what i mentioned.

Many thanks for your help.

Love Lisa

There is a book called "The Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook" written by Johanna Budwig herself, that you can buy on Amazon for under $10. There is a Yahoo support group at FlaxSeedOil2@yahoogroups.com
that has all people who are doing this diet. There is much information to be learned.
As for my husband, this is what we have been doing.
1) No animal products whatsoever including eggs and milk. We use Rice Milk or Almond Milk
2) No sugar and/or refined flour of any kind. that means giving up cookies, cakes, sweets, etc.
3) He eats only fruits, vegetables and whole grains
3) He has the flaxseed oil and cottage cheese twice a day.
The recipe is: 6 tablespoons low fat cottage cheese to 3 tablespoons flaxseed oil, mix it in a bowl with a handblender until it is totally mixed with no evidence of oil floating on top or on the sides. You can add a little milk or juice to make it liquidier and smoother. You then add two - three tablespoons of ground flaxseeds (they must be ground on a coffee grinder or the like right before eating them, do not eat them whole) and I add cut up fruit to it and he eats it quite willingly. Some people add honey for sweetness but we do not. He likes to eat it for breakfast and then again either for a mid afternoon snack or a little bit after dinner as dessert. Alternatively, I sometimes make the evening portion into a more liquid concoction and he drinks it as a shake.
If you join the Yahoo Flaxseed group you will find much much more information.
Good Luck and Good Health

Thank you so much xxx and good luck.

Hi Lisa,

My Dad also has extensive SCLC diagnosed about 9 weeks ago. He is doing the Budwig plan as well as some other things and is doing quite well. He has gained back 15 lbs that he lost and says he feels better than he has in a LONG time. There are hundreds of posts on this site about nutrition and alternative therapies. I would suggest you do a search... Go to the upper right had corner of the page and type in nutrition or alternative therapies next to the "find it" tab. Take some time to look through the posts. I hope that your Father continues to does well!

Take care,
Jodi

I've been on an anti-cancer diet for over 3 months but also take Essiac Elixir mfg in Canada. The diet basically is no meat except white fish (haddock, cod), no dairy at all, no sugar in any form such as added in breads and canned goods. I prefer products made with Stevia as a sugar substitute. Stevia is a plant so all natural with no calories and doesnt affect glycemic levels at all. I use the "eat nothing white" but I do eat cauliflower.

Hi Lisa, yes, do the budwig diet...Go to the library or get the book"Outsmart your Cancer". Alot of good info. When you eat the cottage cheese with flaxoil it is important to blend together in a blender, I also throw in frozen blueberries, or raspberries, really helps with the taste. Good Luck. pease, love and joy,,,Von

Thank you so much Dukess and Von, you all keep me going with your great support.

Just a quick question, it says to eat cottage cheese with the flaxoil. I thought you should not be eating dairy.

Cheers

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Low fat cottage cheese, or low fat plain yogurt are fine. Even low fat milk. It is needed as it is the combination that works with the flax. It's the hard cheeses that s/b reduced, but I actually do have cheese and eggs. No meats, or poultry, I have some fish - salmon, tuna, white. Basically veg. & fruits, & nuts. I have been taking the combo for 4 years now, and have not had chemo or radiation. I really believe this has kept me going. I add cinnamon and fruit to the cottage cheese combo, or just the cottage cheese & flax oil as a salad dressing over vegetables. I make a great drink and vary fruits but here is an example. 1/2 c plain yogurt, 2TBS flax oil, some flax seed, 1/2 handful of: spinach, cabbage, brocoli, 3-4 baby carrots, 3-4 strawberries, 1/2 banana, blueberries, and any of the following - peach, pear, pineapple, apple, orange, mango, etc. any fruits you love. Add a scope of "Amazing Greens" and whey protein (no sugar), add some pomegrante juice, ice, and some low fat milk to cover, and blend in blender until smooth. Delicious "milk shake" great for a meal or snack. You can use frozen fruit or fresh.
Also, keep in mind that cancer is in an acidic body, so your dad should alkalize. Get the Acid/Alkaline balance diet. Meat is acidic and vegetables and fruits is mostly alkaline. Citrus is good as it is acidic outside the body, but internally it is alkaline. I put fresh squeezed lemon juice in my water daily. e.g. 25oz water, juice of one lemon, 2 oz mangosteen juice, 3oz pomegrante juice, 1oz pineapple juice. Calcium also has high ph, so he should take calcium tablets, Vitamins, selenium. Drink Green tea everyday.
I wish you and your dad the best. Please do keep us informed if he starts this, and the results. I tried to get my friend to go on this regime, but she didn't. Her results were not good. I would love for your dad to adhere to this strictly and see if this makes the difference. It has for me.
Good luck!

Thank you so much MariasFriend, I am finding this all so confusing I must admit. I would like to give this to my Dad as a 'milk shake' daily, also what is good for him to eat as a meal.

I live in England and I am finding it hard to find the best flaxoil, please can you let me know which flaxoil is best if I order it off the net.

Many Thanks, and best wishes.

Lisa
