I read an amazing book by a woman in my area who beat final stage melanoma 100% through God called "A Blessed Journey" by Cindy Cox. I thought it would be nice if you could recommend books that have helped you get through this horrible disease. (In an earlier post, someone suggested that we read, "Help Me Live: 20 Things People With Cance Want You To Know". Thank you!

I think LeShan's book, Cancer as a Turning Point, is effective.

As I mentioned before the book "Cancer, 50 Essential Things To Do" by Greg Anderson. It's a wonderful book and he is a long term "terminal cancer" survivor as well.

I just finished reading "Help Me Live: 20 Things People with Cancer Want You to Know". I really thought it really hit a lot of good points and I am now passing it on to friends and family that want to read it. I am getting ready to read another book called, The Human Side of Cancer, by Jimmie C. Holland. I have bought a couple of other books but haven't read them yet.

Good morning:

I am reading Suzanne Sommers new book
"kNOCKOUT..Drs who are curing cancer".
A real eye opener. Most public libraries now have it.

IMHO... everyone DX'd with this beast should read this before deciding on treatment. It could save your life.

Many hugs and much hope,
abhinj

I second jmichelle's recommendation of the Greg Anderson book and I would like to add "anti CANCER a new way of life" by David Servan Schreiber and also "Integrative Oncology" by Donald Abrams and Andrew Weil. I think the more you educate yourself the more you can do for yourself.

How great! THanks for all the suggestions. The book that helped me most right after I was dx is "Lean on Me - 10 Powerful Steps to Moving Beyond Your Dx and Taking Back Your Life.", by Nancy Davis. It was actually given to me by a friend struggling with MS, but is great for anyone with a life-changing illness.

Actually re reading Kahlil Gibran's book the Prophet' a nd The Purpose Driven life byRick Warren and some other life philosophies has helped. The cancer info I got here, and in a Respiratory therapy book.I have been to articles and sites recommended here.Good luck I also used real people and my Dr's I am all for patient empowerment but I get what I need and stop. Hi all....here is a fantasic website that has been a tremendous help to me: http://www.middletownbiblechurch.org/christia/cancer.htm.
It is a booklet entitled "Cancer and the Christian Life" and emphasises 15 things that cancer CANNOT do. You can also get it in wriiten form from them.

And for some lighthearted but provocative reading, try Barbara Johnson's "Plant a Geranium in Your Cranium", subtitled "Sprouting Seeds of Joy in the Manure of Life".

I enjoy the comraderie on this site and applaud all who contribute. We all have a fatal disease. It's just that WE with a terminal disease are blessed to be reminded of that daily. Our days on this earth are short so we must be spiritually prepared to leave it NOW.

Just remember GOD IS in control and He loves each one of us so much that He died for us. All we have to do is trust Jesus SOLELY for our eternal life by personally accepting what He did on the cross for us.

God is good and He is ALWAYS right!

Hi Glorybound, I just saw that book about "what cancer cannot do"! It's very powerful. We are going to use it in our church's cancer support group - making a list of all the things in our lives that cancer can't touch - it is so freeing.

Hi Pat... Praise the Lord and to God be ALL the glory! If I remember correctly, those little booklets only cost about $1.25 each. They didn't even charge me any shipping charges on my last order. What is so neat is that the word "cancer" can be replaced by any other ailment or condition and still be relevant for the Christian. I've asked the Lord to bless your group and will try to remember to pray for you as the Holy Spirit brings you to mind. Will look forward to seeing you in heaven some day. We'll have an eternity to find each other. LOL. Keep looking up and listening for the shout. ~ Jeanette

Deal! I'll be the one with the short curly hair, looking for my sweet dog Maya!

Greg Anderson's "The Cancer Conqueror" is a great book to read.
God Bless,
Karen

"Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips" by Kris Carr

This is the book that helped pull me out.
