Three months ago I got scan results NED. Here I am now with new results. Like 5 new tumors (I lost count) and 2 lesions on my brain, one of them bleeding. Doctor said I could try Irritecan, but he does not think I'm stong enough to take it. He is suggesting hospice.
I thought at least the brain MRI would be okay since I had the PCI.

Hi Julie, I'm sorry to hear of your recent findings. You don't sound like a patient ready for Hospice. All I can find about you is that you were diagnosed in the limited stage, don't know where or by who is prescribing your treatment.

It's never to late for a second opinion, sometimes these scans and test are mis-read or others can see another regime of treatment that may help you. Praying for you in S.Jersey, Bill

hey, Julie,
moment of truth time - do you have fight left in you?

if the answer is "no", please know that we all understand and are with you.

if the answer is "yes", please know that we all understand and are with you and will urge you to find a doctor worthy of you that is willing to fight along side us. he is very much correct - irinotecan is a nasty mother of a chemo and will knock you a bit on your behind. however, they could find dosages that will do you good but not kill you. what he didn't mention is that there are other fine chemos available that might be suitable (irinotecan is not the last drug in line). you also need to look into what can be done with stereotactic radiosurgery (either cyberknife or gamma knife) by talking with a radiation oncologist.

one last thought - getting a second (or third or fourth) opinion will not hurt you - and you can do it without committing to further treatment. you'd then have more information to make a better decision.

again - I'm sitting in spirit at your side - thinking warm thoughts for you

love and hugs
Pat

Julie,
I sent you a message but I just wanted you to know that I am praying for you and I am hoping you are able to get a second opinion!

Julie I have followed your posts and you seem like such a brave, upbeat lady. I'm so sorry to hear of your bad news. I don't have anything profound or helpful to say. Once again the beast called cancer leaves me speechless. Just know we are all praying for you and pulling for you. Miracles do happen and right now we all praying hard for yours.

I would like to see that corrected first ASAP. Am wishing you the very best.........................M.C..

Going through this now with my Dad. He was told he was NED in August 5th. On September 30th he was told it was back, a 1cm spot in the same lung. His Onc put his back on the same chemo 2 days later. He says he feels better.....but then again he has never once complained or asked "Why me?". He's not ready to give up, and it sounds like you aren't either. Get another opinion. Like Pat said, theres alot of drugs out there. I am praying for you!!

Julie- This small cell stuff is just so aggressive! What a blow to get that news. I'm really sorry you are faced with it again. My prayers are with you.
I'm back fighting it again, too, after only less than two months cancer free. So far, so good.
Keep the faith!
