Back from Vegas and PSA Filming

4 Recommendations

Hi All;

Vegas was a blast and the filming went great, even with the air conditioner not working in the studio. It was so nice meeting everyone that was able to attend and those of you that couldn't attend were with us in spirit!

We had a group breakfast the morning of the shoot donated by the Venetian, and then we all headed to the studio for the taping. Everyone did a great job and I think it will come across well.

Hopefully I'll be able to preview the first draft next week and it will be ready by the end of September/beginning of October. I will hopefully be able to get this on www.helplungcancer.com when it is ready, or at least a link to it.

My letter about the PSA went to 3,000 media type on Friday (thanks James who graciously acquired the mailing list and had the letters and flyers all sent out for me) and they are receiving the letter this week. I've already received 8 requests to play it, so that's a start! Let's change that to 9 because as I was writing this, another call came through! Yay!

I will keep you all posted and if any of you have any TV station contacts, please ask them if they will consider playing it. You can give them my email address: shlaurents@gmail.com if they have any interest.

Hi Susan,
Can't wait to see it.Sounds like YOU hit the jackpot my friend... (I WAS there in spirit) Betsy

Thanks everyone but don't forget all of the others who were a part of it - I couldn't do it without them: Don, Babs, Pam, Mike, Terry, Jo, Rob, Susie, Dana, Cheryl, Kathy, Judy and Jim and our spouses/family who came to support us (and Tara, Arlene and Tina who were supposed to come but had issues at the last minute), and also DAV Productions who made this a reality for us.

Way to go Susan - glad you had a great time and thanks for all your hard work. Can't wait to see it.

I read all your messages and there's something I've been meaning to say to you for quite awhile: YOU ARE MY HERO! I've never said that to anyone before, but I am totally serious. You are an amazing person.

Susan,
I must agree with the last posting before mine. You are my hero. Doing something for Lung Cancer and getting it done. That was the amazing part of it all. It was a long hard road for you but you accomplished it.

I am so proud of you doing this for all of us. There are so many people that feel this way too im sure.

Once more Susan thank you again. You are the best.

If you would like to go into more detail give me a call,
I would love to listen.

Love
Linda

Susan,

For a woman who is rather small in stature, you are having a major impact you are making now and will continue to make in the future!!!

I am thinking of the impact this effort will have on untold people AND families across the country as information on lung cancr improves their lives..

Not many are able to acheive what you have.

Susan:

I've been checking every day for an update on the filming. I hate the we couldn't get to Vegas, but it sounds like you had a good group of people. I am really looking forward to seeing it.

How do you suggest we contact our local stations? Do we just call? Do you have a suggestion?

Thanks! You've done a great job!

Hi Dana. I'm sorry you couldn't make it also but you were with us in spirit. I sent out a mass mailing (or James did for me) nationwide to TV and radio media (3,000 letters). I basically wrote a cover letter about lung cancer and the PSA asking them to help get bring awareness by airing the PSA.

I wrote again to all of my local stations telling them they were included in the mass mailing but that since they were in my community, I wanted to send them a personal letter. I told them a little about my story of diagnosis, etc., and then asked them to run the PSA (it's in the mailbox today so don't know if they will or not). If you would like a copy of my letter I can email it to you and you can personalize it however you want. I also included the lung cancer flyer that you printed for me (thank you so much again for that) to give them some information.

By the way, at the shoot I gave out all of the flyers that I didn't use that you printed for me so people could distribute them in their communities.

Susan:

That's awesome. I would love you to forward the letter (dwlaptop@inovegraphics.com). I want to get my local stations aware that November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Will they get the PSA, or do I give them the link where it will be posted? How does that happen?

Thanks,
Dana

Once you see the letter, you can leave the last paragraph as is (except say contact Susan Laurents), and it will have the info on how to get a copy if they want to play it. I will email it to you right now.
Susan

Hi Susan,

I am still recovering from the trip - I haven't been the same - I am so tired - but it was so worth it. Thanks for all your efforts - it was wonderful getting together with everyone and meeting face to face and doing the PSA was just icing on the cake! Can't wait to see it.

Please forward me the letter and I will see if any of my local news stations here or in Wheeling WV will do anything.

Love and prayers, Pamee

Pamee - girl, you were such a trooper having chemo the day before getting on a plane! You are awesome!
I'll send you the letter to edit however you want.
Love ya, Susan

Susan,
I've been waiting to hear how your trip went. Thank you to everyone that was involved in this huge step. I can't wait to see it. Can you also send me a copy of the letter so I can contact my local stations? If you need my email address again, let me know.

Liz

Hi, Susan! Good job! What an ambitious project on the part of all of you! Can you also email me a copy of the sample letter? I'll send it along to our local TV stations.

Thanks!
