I am doing the same except I am getting it every three weeks. Still have tumors on lungs and in lymph nodes. Have had two treatments already. My third is on Tuesday and then I get a scan to see if it is "maintaining". Haven't had too bad side effects - mostly fatigue. How are you doing on it?

The first day is like a bad flu. I ache all over and am pooped. The second day is much better and after that not so bad. I went on vacation with 2 scrips for treatments . one in Texas and one in Florida. Both docs questioned why i was taking Avastin alone. One said it can cause cancer and does no good anyway and the one in Fla said it does no good as well. My position is this---- My Onc has helped and reduced my cancer with all meds so far. I told him you are the boss and if he wants me to take it i will .

My mom is stage IIIb/IV (age 56, smoker), dx 21 Feb 2008. She finished her first line chemo after 6 sessions with Cisplatin/Navelbine/Avastin. The tumor in her lung is gone. Our onc had said that after finishing first line chemo, she would begin maintenance with AVASTIN every 3 weeks. After attending the last conference (in Chicago I think), he told us that he would add ALIMTA to AVASTIN as recent studies have shown that this combination prolongs the remission period. Dr West in Onctalk (now Grace) has written something about this subject. This is the link:

I am on Avastin only as maintenance and have been for a year, I too was stage four non operable. After my first three treatments of Avastin Taxil and Carbo all of my tumors were gone. My onc says I will continue to be on the Avastin. I get scans done every three months. All still clear. Please know Avastin does work.

I'm on avastin every 3 weeks and zometa every 6 ( for bone mets). I get the fatigue and headaches. It seems to be holding it at bay. I get a ct scan every 3 months. I still have tumors in my lungs and nodes.

Hi, I have been on avastin for about 11 months. Had surgery almost a year ago that they told i could never have. So I have been on avastin ever since. I'm not sure for how long. I have all my info on my site. After you read it if you have any questions let me know. Brigett
After my chemo was finished, I went on Avastin only - that was in April. I still have tumors that have gotten smaller since the chemo. I recently had my 3 month scan and everything looks good - no change, the cancer is not growing. Apparently, the Avastin is doing its job. My oncologist is very pleased. I will continue the Avastin and have another scan in 3 months.

I am on the Avastin every 2 weeks . Is the timing pretty standard? I will ask the doc the next time i see him which is for an infusion this Thursday .
I receive an I.V. of Avastin every 3 weeks, which seems to be pretty standard. There must be a reason why you are receiving it every two weeks. Please let us know when you find out.
