Any one have experience with essaic tea?

0 Recommendations

I am wondering if any one has used essaic as a complementary therapy? I read about essaic soon after I had surgery (URL) in March 2008 (http://theherbs.info/BobK/Bob.html). I have been drinking a quarter cup mixed with water every night. I buy the loose organic herbs, already premixed and measured and brew the tea myself.
I had 4 cycles of chemo (cisplatin/taxotere), scans in September were clean, am awaiting results of scans I had 2 days ago. Although the surgeon felt that my nsclc was completely resected, and there was no lymph node involvement, it was staged as IIIB because there were 2 tumors in the lobe and because there was vascular involvement.
In addition to the essiac, I take several supplements/antioxidants. I drink freshly juiced organic vegetables and do my best to stick to a plant based, organic diet.
Has anyone used essaic? Any results?
Thanks everyone, this is a great site and everyone is so caring and courageous!

P.S. I asked my onc about essaic and he said "What's that?" , but the nutrionist at the cancer center told me I could use it through chemo although she had me restrict antioxidant supplements during treatment because it is believed that they interfere with the chemo.

I tried this tea, but it tasted so bad I couldn't tolerate it and I gave it to a friend who is also battling cancer. However, my onc. didn't have a problem with me using it if I wanted to.

I brewed up the tea first and drank that twice a day. My oncologist didn't have a problem with me using it. Since then I have found a Vegicap version of the Original Essaic, Now instead of brewing up that tea and worrying about it spoiling, I just take a 500mg capsule in the morning, and one before bed. Is it helping? I think so, even if just by helping me tolerate chemo better. I didn't have a bad time of it. No one has a good time of it so I won't even say that! :o) The scans are on the 8th, then we'll know!

I have been using the "true" Essiac Supplement Elixir for past 3 months along with an anti-cancer diet. I feel so much better and have lost 10 lbs of unwanted fat. I just went off my BP med and Cholesterol med because of my healthy diet & Essiac. Don't know which one or both was responsible, but I would absolutely recommend Essiac Elixir. The 3 tsp's I take are no worse than taking cough syrup in taste and I enjoy the quality of life that it has rewarded me to date.

Dear Dukess,

Can you please tell me where to buy the Essiac Elixir?

How many times a day do you take the 3 tsp's?

Thank you,
Cheryl

I mixed up a couple of big batches and drank it or a few months. There have been so many people who have told me to try so many things. There will always be one or two people that these alternative treatments might work on but I have had to tell people that if they really worked, we would all be doing it. If they cured cancer, they would be on the front page of the paper. The other part of this is that many of them can be quite expensive. -M

Just to clarify.. Essiac is not supposed to be a cure... it is an immune booster and is made with 4 natural herbs. It definitely has helped me feel better physically but did not shrink the tumor in my lung, however, I never expected it to. But it certainly has made my quality of life better. I take 2 tablespoons in morning and 2 tablespoons at night of the elixer. My cancer is really expected to spread quickly, but it has not. Don't know if because of Essiac or combination of anti-cancer diet and I don't really care. My daughter actually bought my last batch on Amazon.com for significantly less than we were paying through a distributor. I also had a friend that has a friend in Canada that got me 4 bottles. I've been blessed with lots of friends & family support.

My mom started a regimen of both essiac tea and flax lignens 5 months ago. There's no real way to know if it's the routine or just the chemo/radiation therapy combo, But, honestly-I think it helps. I realize everyone's experience may be different-but our doctors are regularly surprised. Particularlly by how much her tumors have shrunk. (In the beginning, she looked 6 months pregnant, and only 5'7",115 lbs). And I've yet been able to convince her to quit smoking those 2 packs a day. She has extended SCLC-18 mos with treatment, they said. However, her cancer is now stable and shrinking. Some even, non-visible.

I couldn't say she'd be worse off without them, but it seems she's fairing much better than the doctors anticipated....they really are surprised. It could all be that we simply believe enough, that it's working. Anyway, I'm rambling.....here are the links we've purchsed from.
www: flaxhullignans.com and herbalhealer.com

Both essiac tea and flax lignens were recommended to us by a family friend with stage IV metastic colon cancer. She swears by them and has gone into remission twice in 2 years. however, I realize that everyones cancer is unique. More than anything, flax and essiac are powerful antii-oxidents. Good for a healthy body and better for an ailing one. We did tell her doctor, just to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with any other medication. Hope this helps.

Hi ~
New here and will tell my story soon. I have TNBC and have been using Essiac Tea since Jan 2009. Here's a link where I buy mine.

http://www.starwest-botanicals.com/product/1-essiac-tea-organic.html?&cat=5 59&bestseller=Y

It makes 4 batches, and you want to following the exact directions. No it's not easy but as the saying goes, "Anything worth having is Worth working for".

I swear by the stuff.

Blanket of warm hugs to all
