Akimta & Avastin

0 Recommendations

I have had 3 Alimta infusions and my CT scan showed modest shrinkage. The doctor was very pleased and will now be adding Avastin. I have a CT neck to pelvis scan tomorrow and an MRI to clear me for the Avastin. I continue to have a great quality of life and the fatigue should be on the mend as I had an infusion today to bring my hemoglobin count up.

I am very excited about the progress I am making after a year of flunking everything. I sure hop Alimta & Avastin asr the one for me - if not, I will find something else.

Miracles & blessings . . .

Here it is 3:34 AM - I have been up since 2 AM - the darn steroids I take for the Alimta create havoc with my sleep and then with the anxirety about scans at 6:30 AM and the contract to drink at specified times I figure the best I can do is just be up.

I have a power portr now so I never have problems getting the injections for scans and things - I love it. I should be out of there within a couple of hours. Then I will come home and probably sleep for a while.

I will make an appointment with the onc for Thursday so I can get the results and eliminate my anxiety level abaout results.

Thank you for your well wishes. Miracles & blessings . . .

Kathy,

Shrinkage has become a very good word to me. : )

So glad you are experiencing a good quality of life. Your thoughts are up and hopeful.

Keep thinking that way. That is key. I know there is much anxiety about scans, but your attitude is on the right track.

Hope your scans clear the way for the newer treatment regimen.

Many good vibes and thoughts going out to you,

Barbara

Dear Kathy,

That is wonderful news for you. I am so happy that the Alimta is working for you. Having a great quality of life is so important. The fatigue you can handle by taking a little nap. That's what I do when I'm really tired. At least there are no other side effects. I really don't care for that.

Listen my friend, you keep up all the hard work, and keep me posted when you start the Avastin and how your feeling with it.

It seems as if I'm running right behind you with our treatments.

Good talking to you
God bless,
Linda

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! and things are looking good. I had my MRI/CT yesterday and everything looks good for the Avastin to get started. I was even told that companring my last scan after the first 3 Alimta infusions (just a month ago) the new CT shows additional shrinkage.

Also, my onc is treated my fatigue with something - an infusion because my hemoglobin was a little low and I feel like a million bucks - or maybe the shrinkage in cancer is fueling my determination.

As my S/O's kids say - "It's all good ! ! ! " And today I must agree.

So far my best progress has been from treatments that included Avastin and I am on it again. It's also something that you can be on forever if need be. That's the plan for me right now as long as the tumors don't start to increase in size. The Avastin cuts off the blood supply to the tumors so you would think that sooner or later the tumors would not be able to survive. So that's a good thing that you are starting on Avastin! Good luck to you.

Kathy,

So glad to hear the good, good news. It is so encouraging when someone gets good news. I was wondering if you know what they are giving you for fatigue. My brother is on the same combo, alimta and avastin. He is very tired. But it is holding things stable and we will take it. I hope that you get many more shrinkage reports until "it" is gone.

Take care of yourself and enjoy life!

I will find out when I go in on Monday for my lab work. I'll be sure to let you know.
