A Wish for All Inspire Members

0 Recommendations

I am betting everyone is thinking I am wishing you all something so nice. Well, I do and I pray for all daily (unless I fall asleep the second my head hits the pillow) but then I pray in the shower also and I do shower daily!

I wish that to join this Community, we had to list some information. I have noticed that more and more you check someone's info and there is basically nothing.
I have been rude and not accepted some as friends when there is nothing about them and they just joined.

It would be nice to have Age, Sex, City, State, person with cancer, Type of cancer, Dx date, and date of Joining.
I know type and dx date might have to be added later and I respect privacy, but it would make responding to posts so much easier and make responses more helpful.

Newbies normally tell about themselves and I sometimes remember the stories, but I just do not remember everyone.

Any Thoughts?

dear debra-here i was going to post something wonderful and hit some other key and it got wiped out. yikes. i totally agree. it would be helpful for several reasons to put your BRIEF bio when you join, and then UPDATE as your situation changes. The discussions and answers are toooo.. looongggg.. when they include cancer bios on their answers (sometimes every one)and i can't read all that copy. it is TEDIOUS and REPETITIVE and i end up with too much information and just sign off. it is better to be able to check cancer bio to see where the person is coming from so that you can formulate an intelligent comment if you think it will help. a big part of this support, of course, is offering prayers (the BEST). Oh, forgot, "cleanliness is next to Godliness"-so glad you are keeping up with your shower daily. i will clean up my bio now. Nancy

I too think it would be helpful. wonder if we had a small paragragh to invite them and telling them why.On the other hand some are shy,and some may not wish to divulge anything until they are here a while and feel safe.We have to keep in mind some peoples world is newly shattered. They feel betrayed by their own body. They may not yet be familiar with the terms to use yet or still be in testing.Perhaps later a prompt to save time can we update our profiles.I sometimes find it tedious to write what happened briefly but sometimes it just fits in to what the person needs to know.Sometimes I think questions here make us grow as problem solvers, better thinkers and hopefully better human beings. In one day we deal with happiness, sorrow, philosophy, values, manners ,love, death acceptance and rage to name a few.So basically,as we change here I think small reminders on profiles are helpful but may not really tell the story.AndiB

Went and updated.I had't told my stage or surgery,Thanks AndiB

Done!

Great Idea, but mine is already long enough. To anyone who reads mine all the way through, THANK YOU :)
Love to all,
Marylou

To be honest I think when I joined the website I really didn't understand between discussions and journals.

I think it's good to post things in your journals as they are easy to read through because you may tell your story in a discussion but if we don't read that one for some reason on the day it's posted we don't really know your story. I hope this makes sense...Just really understanding the website myself.

Plus if I know your name I do say it in my prayers, if not I use your online name. I think God knows either way...

Have a blessed day everyone!
Becky :)
