A place for Ideas

0 Recommendations

It looks like people are coming up with some great ideas for either fund raiser or ideas for raising awareness. They get posted everywhere. Any chance of getting a "place" for just that. Title it something like "Raising Awareness", or “Ideas for Fund Raiser”.

Thanks

I think you have encountered a "black hole for ideas." Not one response, eh?

Hope you're doin' well.

Hi Barb, how did I and everyone else miss this post? Maybe it's a big conspiricy? We haven't had a livley disscusion in a long time on Inspire. I know the smoking thing we don't want it to get out of control like that usually does. But yes this seems like a good Idea. I think the problem is that the inspire people and the LCA don't want to use this site as a vehicle for promotion of anything. They want this to be a sole place for support and caring. I have to agree with that. I may not totally agree but for what gets achieved on this board is amazing. I've never had experienced anything like this when I was going through treatment. I found this site when I was about a six year survivor. It has made me feel so good about myself and the crap I've gone through since I was diagnosed. I was looking for a volunteer type of thing I could do and forsome reason I came to this site and never left. IMO at least is that we need to stay true to the calling of this site. There is a section for listing fundraising and awarness to the right topof this post.
Right now on www.facebook.com there is a group who are just forming for just what you want to do here . To raise awareness and bring to the fore front our cause. The groups name is WTF which stands for where's the funding. It has been about a month in existance and it has over 80,000 people joined in this time. Check it out . I think we all should it has a lot of potential! -John

Jazzbo,
You are correct. I didn't think when I posted this but this site is about support and healing. And I did join WTF? Had to, she is in Omaha also. LOL.

Blessings
Barb

I joined too.And this site is so about survival and caring support.John your so Inspire! AndiB

I agree with both points.
1)This site is about survival and support, first and foremost. I think it gets those people that are not sure what to look up on the web, and its an easy way to read 'real' stuff (instead of reading medical jargon, etc.) that's going on with others outside of the dr office My dr couldnt get me in touch w/ other LC patients due to privacy but I wanted to know others like me and what they are doing. Its how I got on Inspire.
2)In order to facilitate support, I think there should be perhaps other topics and links here that can be separated out from just everything thrown in the one pot. (It takes some time to get thru reading just the title of the posts ea day - though it does keep me aware of what is going on for everyone. It used to be extremely tough seeing the posts on someone passing away, back when I was new and needed positive info)
Topics for instance on: trials; alternative treatments; awareness; fundraising; survey's (this is one that has just popped into my mind. To come up with a way to share our personal info so that it might be useful for researchers internationally - to potentially see a running commonality among some of our histories - I dont know if something like this exists already, and if it does, please tell me where so my 'history' can be used)
I was planning on posting a topic about this very thing. what do you think?

Barb and all - I agree that there should be a link from this site for the advocacy - or call it what you will. I am not a facebook member - and would love to have a jumping place from this site.
Bridget
I think this follows the same idea that Betsy had earlier in the week.
