From a Parent's Perspective

My name is Erica and my son Tyler was diagnosed with JMML Leukemia on March 1, 2007 when he was just 8 months old. The only treatment for Tyler was a Bone Marrow Transplant, which he received on July 2, 2007. He was only given about a 20% chance of survival and today Tyler is over 1 year post transplant, 100% donor cells and Leukemia free.

The last 19 months have been the hardest of my life. There are some things that you only learn by having lived it. At so many times throughout our journey, families, doctors, parents and strangers, reached out to us. I often think of these individuals and wonder if they know how much their little act of kindness meant to us. Now it is my turn to hopefully do for other what so many did for me.

Please feel free to contact me! I am not a professional, just a parent that has lived through living in-patient and navigating the waters of chemo, medicine and isolation.

Be Well! Erica =)
