Hi, I was planning to get BPA-free Avent bottles but just saw the price-tag! Any other recommendations for less expensive, but of course non-toxic, bottles? That are easy to clean but also offer some bubble/gas "protection"?

We sampled every bottle on the market with the twins. Our favorite were the Playtex Drop-Ins. They are cheap to start and the drop-in bags are BPA-free and sterilized. Plus, when gas/bubbles are an issue, you can physically push the air out of the bags to ensure there is none left. The bags add up in cost, but the ease and durability won us over.

Do you want my Avent bottles? Seriously, I'm sick of them! I know, I know, they did well by us, but after 11 months, I'm totally over the bottle thing! I'm no help obviously, but I have heard good things about the Playtex nursers.

They offer no bubble/gas protection, but I loved the clear Gerber bottles. They are BPA free (I made certain) and are like $2 a bottle.
P.S. You can have my old Avents too! I used them for a bit when mine were newborns, but after that, I hated that they always seemed to leak on me.

We loved the Playtex Drop-Ins too! Sterile, convenient and easy to use...Rachel never had gassy or spit up issues. I had 6 of the 8 oz. size and 6 of the 4 oz. size. I just bought new nipples every three months.

Another vote for Playtex drop ins. I feel like they are so clean and convenient. And I really do think they make a difference with the spit up issues. And a lot of times a BRU when you by a big box of the liners, they include a free bottle. ANd you are going to have to buy liners eventually anyway

Also, look on craigslist. People are always selling old bottles and then you can just buy some new nipples! much cheaper!
We are going all glass just to be safe. I registered for the Born Free brand in various sizes. They have some kind of gas regulator thingy that goes in them too. My sis used them and like them.
You can have my Avents also! They're practically brand new (BPA free) and we had to switch to el-cheapo Gerbers because of my preemie's feeding issues. But I think I like the el-cheapo Gerbers better--they leak less often. We just had to search out and find the slow-flow silicone nipples online because they're the ones our occupational therapist recommended for our little guy and they're difficult to locate in the stores.

Hi Palea, where in the country are you (I'm in boston)? Would you mail them, and I'd cover shipping?
(oops, I meant Lea, above)
Cheri and Shan, same question to you... I'm serious. I keep looking on craigslist but getting outrun!
Not sure when we'll be done with ours', hopefully in the next 6-8 weeks. When do you need them? I have 4 sets of 8 oz. bottles.

Hey, I'm in Colorado. Send me an email and we can figure out logistics. I have about a dozen bottles, I think. With size 1 nipples that I used briefly and some size 2 nipples that I never used. Your call as to what you're comfortable with sanitation-wise but I think anything can be sterilized with good old-fashioned boiling water!
