Hi Everyone. I haven't written in a while to let you know how my foot is healing. I'm now in the 8th week of healing (time flies, doesn't it?) and it's healing pretty well. I was at my orthopaedic surgeon last week and he says "he's happy with the way it's healing" and "it looks like it just might heal after all". I was ecstatic to hear those words. After all, he's been talking amputation for the last 6 months. I still have several months to go but IT WILL HEAL. I know it will.
My blood sugar is great. I've been having some lows but evey morning when I test, it's been normal. That's terrific news.
The antibiotic I'm on for the MRSA is another story. It seems to be affecting my kidneys and I'm also getting a second blood transfusion on Monday. The first one was a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully, the MRSA will be gone when I finish the antibiotic treatment (in about 4 weeks).
I've also had my sarcoid act up in my eyes. I've had sarc in my eyes for 37 years but it's largely been in my left eye. I was at the opthamologist last Wednesday and it's now acting up in my right eye. She's put me on prednisone in both eyes 4 times per day. She even talked about surgery in my right eye. Yeah, right!! No surgery for me for a while. Afterall. that's where I got the MRSA - in the hospital.
So that's how I'm doing. I'm not going out much because I can't (putting any weight on my foot is a no-no), but I'm feeling positive about things. I know my foot WILL heal. It has to!! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. It's great to have all of you rooting for me.
