Hi everyone. I have an update to my foot surgery. Are you ready? Because I can't believe this is actually happening!!! I had the foot surgery on Wednesday, July 8th. I went back for my 3rd cast change last Friday, July 17th. (yes, my 3rd) My ortho. surgeon also had the culture results that were taken during the initial surgery. Bad news - I now have an MRSA infection in my foot. These are the surperbad infections that one can only get in a hospital. I didn't even STAY in the hospital!! Until I get a PICC line (the second one, another doctor pulled the original one out 5 weeks ago) I have to go into the hospital for IV antibiotics. There's only one type of antibiotic that treats this infection and even then the infection is not guaranteed to go away in a hurry (if at all). I'm in the hospital for 2 hours every day getting pumped with this antibiotic. And they've had to increase the antibiotic twice because of the infection. I also have blood tests every 3 days. Between being on all the water pills for my liver sarc and getting all this antibiotic, I may as well camp out in a washroom. Attention doctors and nurses: I'm in a wheelchair for 3 months, remember?? Is this really happening to me??? I feel like a decrepit (?) old person who is terminally sick. And I'm not. I'm a positive person who has some health issues, but this is really getting me down. Why do I keep getting these things? Every time I turn around something else is going wrong. All I want is for my foot to be healed and I can walk again. Is that too much to ask??
Thanks for listening to my volatile ranting everyone. Feels better already!! (well, sort of :)
