Hi, I'm a Type I as well, and have been since I was 10 years old. I'd be happy to discuss anything and everything.

Hello! I have been Type 1 diabetic since I was just 2 years 9 months old. I was diagnosed July 1, 1983! I am currently on a pump, but only started using one about 4 years ago. Let me know what you'd like to know and I'll be more than happy to help you out if I can!
Hi there
thanks a lot for your considerate mails.
Infact my daughter is doing well with about five insulin shots.
I am looking for some latest developments happening in the field of beta cells or stem cell therapy, as I have been reading about stem cell therapy and how it can help pencreas to function again......................
thanks again
bye

Hi,
I have been on a pump for the past 7 years but, taking insulin for the past 31 years. I will answer any thing I can about being Diabetic and living with it.
I will be 26 years old this Feb. and will have had diabetes for 21 years in jan. I would love to answer any questions you might have. Also, I was just wondering how old your daughter is.
Donna
I am type 1 too. I have been with diabetes during 26yrs. I also read about stem cells and other treatments for more than 5 yrs and like any organ transplant you have to take some pills to avoid the reject. At that moment my doctor did not recomend any treatment like this because I did not have any other health complication other that diabetes. I am still interest in any other options, so please if you find something let us know. I am in the pump with the sensor. I love the pump I don't like the sensor's needle.
Good luck
J.
I don't have diabetes, but my dad does and has had it from the time he was 26 and is going to be 57 this year and has had a pump for like 10 years now i think. And he always says that for him it was like getting a new pancreas. But i do hope for good progress with stem cell therapy =)
Hi to all,
Stem cell and other new promises for a cure for diabetes are eagerly awaited by so many diabetics for how long it will be deemed safe and effective nobody knows for sure. Well, its your belief in what modern science can do so just be happy with it.
Diabetes had become a worldwide epidemic and patients are getting younger and younger and its cure becoming harder and harder to find because the direction where to look for it is wrong. It could not be found in chemical derivatives and other synthetic products because it is simply and plainly in a natural source that researchers and drug manufacturers do not want people to know for reasons that are too obvious.
Please contact me at natureheal_ggv@yahoo.com to know more about what I am saying.
Thanks and enjoy the shots.

Hi Suneel,
There is a great forum called www.tudiabetes.com that offers a lot of fabulous info for parents of Type 1 diabetics--they have several forums related to raising kids of different age groups. I highly recommend it. One of the things that put me off about joining this forum was that it's called "juvenile diabetes (Type 1)" when that's a very outdated name for the disease, given that plenty of people develop it when they're adults. My son is 2 years old and was diagnosed six months ago, he gets anywhere from four to six shots daily depending on his schedule, so I know what it's like. There are also a bunch of pretty good books out there for parents with older kids--not so much for parents with kids as young as mine, but I think I might just have to write one!
My daughter was just diagnosed in Jan. 3 weeks before her second birthday. We also have to give her 4-5 injections a day. It's heartbreaking for me. I am lucky enough to have experience as a nurse but it was all new for my husband. we have been looking for people to talk to because no one really understands unless they are going through it themselves.
Hi!
I am a mother of a child with type I diabetes for the last 7 years and his control is very well managed so far....
I love to learn about diabetes management and definitely need a support group now, since my soon-to-be-nine-yr-old son has started early on puberty. He has never had the opportunity to make friends with another child like himself and feels like he is on an island all by himself.
I am willing to learn from you and receive as much advice as you can give. So far, I receive information from doctors who have never experienced what it is like to live with diabetes. People like yourself carry a wealth of knowledge for people like me who have to live on the outside looking in.
Thank you for making yourself available to us!
Hi my daughter was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two days ago. she is 9 almost 10. she is the oldest of my 5 children. This is all very new to me and i have no insurance so i was waundering what kind of help there is out there. and i am interested in any information and advise i can get.
I would check out https://www.diabetes.org/advocacy-and-legalresources/healthcare/insurance.j sp for information from the American Diabetes Association for information on health care. Also, check with your daughter's doctor to see if they know of any resources that could be available to you.
Good luck,
Brianna
I've been a type I for 50 years and am getting along in years (two months shy of 80). I have initiated a discussion for long time diabetics in the Type I Diabetes Support Group. Those of you who are seniors with long experience coping with Type I might be interested in sharing experience. Please do.
Actually, my discussion is in the "Living with Diabetes" subgroup of the "Type I Diabetes Support Group." I'll get the hang of this site eventually, I hope . . .
