Here I am, home again! Five days in the hospital and another five in a nursing home. DX: pneumonia, sarcoid, chronic bronchitis (COPD) and asthma. I'm still coughing, will continue my antibiotic for another five days as well as using my script cough syrup as needed. Thurs., 10/15 had just headed to bed, was chilled so took my temp. 95.9 degrees. Woke about 3:30 am and took it again, 102.6 degrees. Called my pcp's phone number, talked to a nurse who heard me coughing and said I needed to get to the hospital. Put some clothes on and made the 911 call. While in the nursing home was recommended that I sign up for hospice due to my COPD diagnosis. Talked about it and said okey. Shortly after I arrived home today the nurse was here to check me out and fill out their paperwork. Then an oxygen generator and oxygen tanks were delivered so that if I require them they are available. Since 2003 I have not had to live on oxygen, only used it when in the hospital. I need to buy an oximeter that measures the oxygen in my body so that I only use the supplemental oxygen when really necessary. My neighbor who has COPD has been concerned for some time that I should have oxygen available so let her know that now I have it on hand. My youngest son and daughter are concerned that accepting hospice means I've given up fighting these health problems that plague me so much. I told them "No way, I'm going to fight as long as my body allows.". I have a great deal to live for, my four kids, seven grandkids and numerous friends scattered around the globe. I know I can help make a difference in someone else's life and that makes me feel good. I continue to work at staying positive even when I'm 'knocked down' again, keep getting up and try not to give up. The support I receive on Inspire and from my other friends is wonderful. I'm tired so time to get off the pc for a while. :) Jody-C
