what helps relieve joint pain when I lift weights

Whenever I lift my left shoulder and elbow kills me, it will hurt for weeks after I lift, the pain is pretty severe what would help allieve some of the pain?

So don't lift! Some people with some conditions can't lift weights without pain or damage to their bodies. When I would lift weights as part of physical therapy I would use heat on my joints first. Some therapists think it works, some don't. Using a hot rice or corn bag seems to work better than a heating pad.

If you continue to do something that hurts you could cause long-term problems. A friend of mine had a job holding babies several hours a day. She has fibromyalgia and developed shoulder pain. She quit that job and it's a year later and she is still having pain.
