Tylenol Surgery Pain

My husband had his right hand thumb(CMC) joint replaced January13th. Overall his recovery has gone very well. He is pleased with the surgery and plans on having the left thumb done also. The only drawbacks for him were he had an allergic reaction to the pain medication so he could only take Tylenol #3 for pain, and the first cast was on too tight so he had alot of swelling. They removed the cast early but it took quite awhile for the swelling to go down. His surgeon is pleased with his progress and is ready to do the other thumb when my husband is ready. He was released from therapy 4 weeks early since he has progressed so well. The doctor also did a carpal tunnel revision at the same time.

I have had the basal joints removed from both thumbs. They were not really replaced, but a tendon from my arm was curled up to put in the empty space. I have almost full use of thumbs with no pain.

I had both basal thumb joints removed and replaced with a tendon from my arm that was coiled to fill up the space. I have no pain anymore and had almost complete use of both thumbs,

Make sure you find a surgeon who specializes in hand surgery!
Good luck

I found I had terrible pain, went to therapy, still had serious pain but w/ braces and a special way I was told to hold one hand w/ the other after about 6 months I was able to take the braces off and live w/ it. I would also love to hear from someone who has had it just in case. Much luck to you.
