New and I too have RA.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the joint support group on the inspire website. I've been a member of the ovarian cancer part for a few months now. I have a sister with OC and I myself had a little scare with it back in March. so when I was looking around the site I see that they have a group for Arthritis, well I should've know (this is an awesome site) so why not join this one too. I was diagnosed with RA back in Nov of 2008. Even tho I'm pretty much sure I've had RA since I was about 15 years old (I've always had a body that felt much much older than it should have) but since I had a mother who was always more worried about "other" things in life, me getting to the docs for this just wasn't in the cards. So anyway, now that I'm a grown woman and the pain just go too unbarable (just once I would like to know what it's like to pick something up with no pain!!) I went to the docs, was diagnosed with RA and now the pain is getting more and more managable everyday. Thanks for welcoming me into this portion of Inspire.

Welcome to the group. I'm glad your getting the help you need to fight. Everyone here has been wonderful, and you get some of the greatest support here. Gentle hugs , skeeter

I do not whether you should believe in doctor unless he has confirmed your illness with blood tests & xrays etc. Please have a second oipinion. Some doctors say & disturb your patience.

Welcome bootyjig5! I joined this grouop just a short time ago. It is so nice to have others that understand.
I was diagnosed in 1997 but like you I had symptoms and pain long before that. My feet hurt so bad I could barely walk, then I went to the doc.
Oh well, most of the time it isn't too bad now but some days are just the pits. You learn what you can do and when you can do it. But even that can be discouraging. I hope you have a good family support group. My husband is wonderful. My oldest daughter also has RA, my youngest tested negative but still has hand and other pain. But they all know when I can and can't function as I would like to.
Again welcome and God bless.

Well I actually have had blood test done and x-rays, the whole shebang. I doctor with a Rheumatologist, she is a wonderful doctor. She WAS my second opinion. So I actually DO have RA. Thanks for the concern.

Thank you all for the welcome. I DO have good family support and my hubby is wonderful too. I have a 16 year old daughter that is starting to show some signs of pain in her joints as well, which concerns me, because she is right around the same age as I was when I first started to hurt. I am getting her checked for RA as soon as I can get her in with my docs. It just runs really deep in my family.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I also have narcolepsy. I just joined the group today, and already feel good about it. My husband couldn't deal with the fact I have a illness. WE are getting a divorce and it is the most stressful and sadest moments for me. I do have a support system, so that helps a lot, but what I am wondering if anyone is experiencing Narcolepsy too.It has progressed so fast that if I wasn't on medication for it I would sleep all the time.
