Sometimes the glucosamine and fish oil work and sometimes they don't but I don't know what will replace the lost cartilage in the knee and that is what causes the pain.

I have the same diagnosis; sans the issue with the spine...sometimes the pain is so bad I want to cry. And I am always fatigued especially if I walk any distance - most times I can only walk with the assistance of a cane and getting up and down from a seated position is almost impossible without assistance - holding on to something or using the cane.

We are SO in this together!!! I hear ya!!

As for the fish oil, I think you have to take quite a bit to help with inflammation. I take it as well at about 2000 mg a day. I think to get better results I have to double it. Maybe other people have some ideas on it also on the amount. Fish oil is also great for the heart as well.
Fish oil is not that expensive and I just bought some with a buy one, get one free.

I think though with arthritis you have to try to move a lot. I am trying very hard now to get some exercise. I think my biggest problem right now is my lack of stamina after having not exercised. I am hoping to build up my stamina and eat right. I think that makes a big difference as well!!

Happy New Year!!
With blessings;
Dee

I also have osteoarthritis my knees I tire easily and sometimes the pain is so bad I would rather not move I use a cane and have a hard time getting up out of a chair I tried all kinds of things but nothing has helped I need a knee replacement but need to lose some weight before the Dr. will do the surgery

I have had arthritis for 30 years! Having tried about everything as far as drugs and supplements, I am about ready to throw in the towel. In the last 6 months, I have been told that I have scoliosis which is degenerative. Moving is the best answer even if it is walking a couple of times a day around the block. If there is a new treatment, I sure would like to know about it.

Gentle yoga is good movement. find a teacher with experience. I have definite osteoarthritis in knees, shoulder, neck, hands and feet but I do whatever amount of exercise I can handle. I probably also have psoriatic arthritis, but all of this is in review as I just went for a second opinion. Gentle stretching, walking, yoga in a chair or standing all helps.
Good luck

I have osteoarthritis in my knees. 4 years ago I could bearly walk 4 feet without pain.
I have been getting Euflexxa shots for the past 2 years & I feel like a new woman. I also go to water areobics at a local gym 3 times a week. Last year I hired a personal trainer to help strenghten the muscles around my knees. It was well worth the time & money.\
Today I can walk without a cane, stand for long periods & be in relatively little pain.
Ask your DR. to recommend physical therapy. Their knee excercises helped very much in getting my mobility back.
Don"t give up, don't quit, and know others struggle with you everyday.
