Arthritis since birth and didn't know it

I had an injury to one knee early last year. The pain wouldn't go away. After additional testing they found I have arthritis in both knees. Both knee caps are out of place and I have had the condition since birth. As a baby I had learned to block the pain out and the injury was enough to raise the pain to a level I can really feel. By useing the leg without injury more I irrated the other knee also. I was on crutches for many months. It was ironic to have one of the best surgeons in the area tell me, "your knees are the worst I have ever seen". He said he had never saw tests like mine and appoligized for keeping me waiting while he figured out what he was looking at. I laughed and later cried. I am trying to loose weight to put off surgery as long as I can and don't want to have surgery at my weight. My doctor's suggestion is to start with exercises no matter if you can only do them a minute or two at a time. I believe the pain in my hands and other joints that I am used to are not normal either now. We haven't found any anti-inflamitory meds I can take. They all make my blood pressure go up. After wakeing one morning and not being able to walk, every day I can get around is a blessing. I stay away from box box stores unless I already know exactly where I need to go. No walking and looking for things. And I make an extra trips to the grocery so I don't over do. Learning to adjust to not being able to do what I was used to was and is hard to accept at times. Last year my employer offered to let us work form home. It is a blessing not to have to get out every morning especially in the cold.

You sound like how I use to be. The only difference is I've been on all kind of medications and had both knees and a hip replaced. I'm now taking Humira shots and this is the best I've felt in many years. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about taking Humira or Enbrel shots. If I'd tried it sooner, I probably wouldn't have needed the surgeries. Good luck to you and I'll remember you in my prayers.

Greetings to all. I was recently diagnosed with OA in my right knee. The pain at first was really bad, so I was given a cortizon shot which lasted less than a month. Now the pain has returned but it seems worse, but only after walking it doesn't matter how far. It hurts to touch the outside of my knee and it seems none of the ointments are working. I go back on 10/9/09. I have also checked into so aqua aerobic classes at the YMCA. Does anyone know if this will help and if there are places I can go for such exercise without joining the YMCA. I am so happy this site is here, this is such a painful and lonely road to travel alone. I Thank God for all of you, may his grace and mercy abide with all of you.

Pool therapy is the very best. Depending on where you live there may be rec facilities around that you can swim at. You can just pay for it when you go. The YMCA always had a scholarship program. You can check to see. There is very little paperwork, and no verif. of income needed except your word. Trust me, people use it so don't be afraid to do this. Your health is important, and you might as well take advantage of what the Y has to offer!

Hugs;
Dee

Before you take anything you really need to talk to your doctor. It sounds as if there are a few things going on with your health. I have never heard of Deep Sea Gold and would be very cautious in taking anything like this. I would also recommend you see a rheumatologist if your doctor is not one, this should help you narrow down what exactly is going on. Good luck and stay strong!!
