Growing up with HIV

0 Recommendations

i lived with my mother who was HIV+ and eventually it had turned into full blown AIDS. i just want people to know that caring for someone who has this isnt always that hard. Just treat them like any other person just with a little bit more caution. Dont make them feel uncomfortable. Growing up i was made fun in school because kids thought i had this virus and they thought i was going to spread it to them even though i wasnt. I dont have this condition and having to care for someone and live with someone who did has made my views on this virus expand. They are still the same person no matter what! I just wanted to share that.

My mother also is HIV +. She contracted it about 15 years ago from her husband who turned out to be gay. She's doing well right now although she would love to find love again. It's been hard for her to find someone to spend her life with that will accept her and her disease. It's not fair that her ex gets to move on with his love life after infecting my mother. He has plenty of gay men with HIV to choose from. It's hard to find a DECENT straight man with HIV that lives in the same area as her. Sorry to hear about your mom. My mom is my best friend too!

sorry this reply to has taken me so long. dont get frustrated over it. Your mom will find someone. My mother was able to have a 2nd baby even though she had hiv. My brother did not contract it or neither did her boyfriend. Even though he left us..he is a jerk but i have forgiven him. My little brother david passed away when he was 2, my mothers 2nd child. we were blessed to have him for those 2 years. your mom will find someone. there are social groups and communities, maybe she can join something like that.
